My birthday is coming up and I would like to ask for a nice perfume.

Ideally i would like one of Penhaligon's, but not sure anyone could afford that for me!

So what else do you recommend?

Great time of year to find a new perfume - I really recommend buying one of the "gift sets" they do in Boots with about 5 miniature bottles of different perfumes in. That way you can try them out properly.

NickNemo · 22/10/2009 16:34

Overmydeadbody, I was in Penhaligon's today and ended up buying the 50 ml Malabah... its gorgeous and cost me £58! They also do a gift set of 5 5 ml perfumes for about £25.

That's actually not that unreasonable!

Winibaghoul · 22/10/2009 16:42

Another one here for Annick Goutal. I wear Petite Cherie, which is rose, peach, vanilla and grass. I think it's lovely for summer, winter, day and night.

Also love Jo Malone wild fig and cassis. Grassy at first and then fades to a warm fruity smell.

Mitsouko by Guerlain - have worn this for years and love it.

Like Shalimar Light as well in the summer. I'm going to try a spray of Idylle (new one by Guerlain) next time I'm in John Lewis, having tried a magazine wrist rubber of it recently ( if that is the right phrase)
