My birthday is coming up and I would like to ask for a nice perfume.

Ideally i would like one of Penhaligon's, but not sure anyone could afford that for me!

So what else do you recommend?

YSL - Paris! Tis gorge.

ruddynorah · 21/10/2009 13:27

marc jacobs daisy.

Bleh · 21/10/2009 13:29

I wear Chanel No. 23 every day, and then I have the Dior Me Dior Me Not for special occassions (limited edition, so will not be able to get it again ... Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!). I'm also looking to maybe get something else as I'm really boring of the Chanel.

Tulpe, the ONLY perfume I really REALLY like is Paul Smith Rose, as I think most perfumes have a strong chemical component (or at least smell as if they do) and this one just smells natural. It´s subtle and classy, I think.

I also like Jo Malone as a brand, especially the French Lime Blossom.

The only "artificial" perfume I like, which is also quite a soft smell is Emporio Armani, Elle Nuit (red bottle). Not easy to get hold of though.

overmydeadboody - are you in London?

If you are, go along to Selfridges - they have a Jo Malone concession. Only because quite a few of us have recommended the "Boden of the perfume world".

And try out the Guerlain stand while you're there (or in JL). It's almost a crime not to.

bibbitybobbityCAT · 21/10/2009 16:20

Clinique Aromatics. It must suit me because I get compliments on it all the time. Its nice and wintery.

Channel no. 19 in the summer.

Ewe · 21/10/2009 16:25

I wear Chanel Allure for day and Chanel Chance at night at the moment but I change quite a lot, I love different fragrances.

The Prada range is great, I have had to stop myself buying all of them. I know they stock them at Liberty's. They're limited edition and quite pricey though, I like the Iris and Narciso.

Ewe · 21/10/2009 16:29

I have Lola by Marc Jacobs as I really liked it on a client I met a few weeks ago. Not sure it smells right on me though.. hoping it grows on me!

NickNemo · 21/10/2009 17:00

I had Bulgari Notte, which was lovely, smoky with just a hint of woodiness. Sadly discontinued. I now wear Jasmin Noir, but it doesn't have staying power.

I would love Penhaligon's for Christmas too

Have you smelt any perfumes by Miller Harris? They're lovely!

harleyd · 21/10/2009 17:17

i like ed hardy atm

fin54 · 21/10/2009 17:47

Coco Chanel for me I love it.

Sunshinemummified · 21/10/2009 18:02

My fave perfume is Chantal Tomas but I'm not sure if you can get it here anymore. They used to have it in Selfridges. It smells of raspberries and is just lovely.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 21/10/2009 19:19

Jo Malone - I love the Lime, Basil & Mandarin
Vevtyer is also lovely - very light and fresh

eggshapedbanana · 21/10/2009 19:35

Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana is very light and fresh. I love it.

Hogiabach · 21/10/2009 19:50

I love vanilla & anise by Jo Malone 'tis divine. But doesn't quite beat Costume National - but sadly no longer available in the UK.

choosyfloosy · 21/10/2009 19:54

Ooh, I was going to say Rose by Paul Smith. I love it, and I'd stopped wearing perfume in public after a horrible tube journey years ago next to someone wearing apparently an entire bottle of AWFUL aftershave.

Ronaldinhio · 21/10/2009 19:55

pomegranete noir jo malone
baise by diptyque
phylosykos by diptyque

duckyfuzz · 21/10/2009 19:57

I wear chloe and daisy, both nice and not overpowering

Sparkletastic · 21/10/2009 20:01

Nutmeg and Ginger - Jo Malone
Arpege - Lanvin
Lola - Marc Jacobs

Quite fancy the new Issey Miyake scent which is odd as I like smells that pack a punch (see above!) and it is very fresh and washing powdery....

Sparkletastic · 21/10/2009 20:02

Bulgari Black is my all-time fave though - a bit weird as is a mix of burnt rubber and vanilla but totally works.

Ronaldinhio · 21/10/2009 20:02

my mum wears arpege and chanel and i love them on her but they smell talcy on me

is that just me?

RGPargy · 21/10/2009 20:03
