UGG-style boots with a proper sole (and not £££?)

I have some Snug UGGs which are lovely and warm but have crapola soles. Any recommendations for similar boots that one can actually walk in (i.e proper foot support) would be great. Sadly I can't buy the UGG Australia ones as my marriage would be over...

I got mine from the kiwi sheepskins website (also NZ). They are still going strong 3 years later!

The Kiwi Sheepskin ones look great - I love the heavy duty foam-backed soles. The ones I have offer no support - just didn't occur to me when I bought them (doh).

I bought some from River Island last year, they cost £30 and look like short chestnut Uggs (they also do black, brown and white I think) and I LOVE them. Really sturdy, so so comfy and look really nice. A few friends have bought them and rave about them too.

M&S do a nice version if you wanted some longer ones.

Coco, I have the shorter version of those you linked to - in black. They've lasted for ages and still look good!

Thanks Paddington - I think they're the ones. I'm now trying to work out if my SIL in Oz can get them cheaper than I can...

I got these but from ebay (brand new, a shop in N Devon), and the soles are great, I used to slip around in my cheap ones all the time but I don't at all in these.

bluebump yes those are good too, the emus. I got dd some a few weeks ago in tk maxx, was lucky think I got the last pair!!

Jut ordered the tall ultimate ones in chocolate - the reviews seem to bear out how fab they are. I've done so much research now I've become an overnight UGG bore. It turns out that they are made by the same factory that supplies UGG Australia with skins and soles for some of their boots, so these do seem like a great balance between quality and price. Even DH likes them, to my astonishment. Thanks Paddington and everyone else for resolving my great fashion query!

Hi - I ordered these ones from Kiwi Sheepskins on Saturday and just received a message saying they're on their way. Hopefully it won't take long - just remember if you order that you might get charged about £10 on top in customs charges. Still worth it I reckon, if they are as good as everyone seems to say.

Dorothy Perkins have some which look sturdy and comfortable (and v similar to UGGS) for £50

My emu's have been great, just starting their second winter still look like new after VERY heavy use...

Mmmm don't know which ones to go for. Tries on some genuine Uggs, but the cost is a little high.

What are EMUs like ?

FabMum I tried the deckers UGGS, but didn't like them - they were £££ and made my feet look like boats (and I'm only size 4-5)! I have the kiwi (shorter) ones and have tried the emus (dd has those). Both are fine, but I prefer the kiwis - they seem to wear better as well.

I like both the EMUs and Kiwis, so now I think I'll toss a coin to decide which ones to get.

Haven't checked out the Emus - just make sure you get something with a proper, supportive sole. I'm still wearing my old ones and they are rubbish - the flat, thin soles give no support whatsoever. Which is why I am now stalking my local postman in the hope that he will be bringing my magic parcel from NZ any day. Hello warm comfy feet, bye bye sciatica.

Why can't buying boots be easy

Do you know that the original makers of UGGs were in Cornwall? They are Celtic Sheepskin, they sold to Deckers, but continue to make superb quality boots in Newquay AND you can have the boots resoled! I popped in their shop and overheard a conversation where a lady came in to collect her resoled boots, she had had the boots 10 years and this was their second resoling. Hows that for value!!

I looked at those - would prefer to avoid the airmiles too... But they're sold out in my size and also £30 more expensive. Very impressive that they last that long though!
