Last bit: 'Bronze twisting lion'.

That sounds more like it.

MrsBadger · 13/10/2009 10:35

Lorem ipsum

FlightAttendant · 13/10/2009 10:37

Right.
Where did that lion come from then?

I was never that good at Lat I must admit.

AngryFromManchester · 13/10/2009 10:39

Go to Whitstable, Kent on a weekend and the DFL's wll show you a line in middle class cuntry clothing. Just do not forget your flat cap

FlightAttendant · 13/10/2009 10:41

All I ever see there are dfls in sunglasses and leather jackets! Usually emerging from a seaside 'cottage' they ahve rented and trying to find a shop that is open on a sunday as they have run out of quails eggs

fannybanjo · 13/10/2009 10:50

DH has numerous Barbour and Schoffel coats as he goes shooting and you have to look the part so the birds don't faint at the sight of cheap cloth. It isn't a fashion statement, you need to be warm and waterproof.

AngryFromManchester · 13/10/2009 10:53

lol @ quail eggs. They will be lucky, especially with the cutard shortage

AngryFromManchester · 13/10/2009 10:53

custard obviously

GoppingOtter · 13/10/2009 11:53

aBetaDad wow i actually like the tight knit of those

nice trousers too!

FlightAttendant · 13/10/2009 12:07

Angry, that is hysterical WTF???

ZZZenAgain · 13/10/2009 12:19

my FIL used to eat quail's eggs for breakfast. I never saw the point in it.

there is nothing to them

ZZZenAgain · 13/10/2009 12:30

We have schoffel but they are not at all posh. They are more hiking gear really - and none of it is mustard coloured.

ZZZenAgain · 13/10/2009 12:45

schoffel is not posh

there is another one German or Austrian or something which îs posh but I can't remember the name.

thepobblewhohadnotoes · 13/10/2009 13:50

What's wrong with posh, anyway?

ABetaDad · 13/10/2009 14:04

I dare you to go and post that on one of those "Is there anything good about a Tory" political threads of recent days.

ZZZenAgain · 13/10/2009 14:11

you can still be posh if you like

I just don't find my schoffel stuff posh. It's just bright (or black) down to earth hiking stuff, not like Barbour at all.

thepobblewhohadnotoes · 13/10/2009 14:25

You're on abeta .....

thepobblewhohadnotoes · 13/10/2009 14:26

Er where do I find them?

Morosky · 13/10/2009 18:19

Abeta I am supposed to be marking essays on life afer death, your heavenly night wear is a distraction.

mathanxiety · 13/10/2009 18:34

Nooka, we may be related? Parents made a point of only buying clothing that would last at least a century. And then passing everything down.

ABetaDad · 13/10/2009 19:01

thepobble - those threads seem to have calmed down since the party conferences have stopped. I guess you could start one along the lines of:

AIBU to think it does not matter that some Tory MPs are posh?".

Bet you get lots of YABU replies.

nooka · 14/10/2009 05:08

They were obviously the forerunners of the green movement . Actually I do think that often they were a little bit too keen on saving the pennies and never ever appearing to have money. My cousin became an advertising executive and married a property developer. My mother has never really got over how all their friends at their wedding were yuppies (and boy were they) much frowned on for being ostentatious and vulgar in my mother's eyes (and most of her generation to be honest). As a child I never really thought that we were well off, as I really envied my friends with clothes of their own (I'm the youngest of four), central heating and TVs.

However I have to say that my father's wardrobe isn't that different from Abetadads. Don't think I'd be able to find my mothers though.

Drayford · 14/10/2009 10:02

Very apt article in Times 2 today about Barbour.

Perhaps its time to put my old Barbours on ebay!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 14/10/2009 10:07

Were do they learn to tie this ?

MrsBadger · 14/10/2009 13:46

oh tying a cravat is easy - it's more or less just an overhand as the shape ofthe cravat does the owrk for you

much easier than a bow tie
