I'm 36 and spent the last 10 years fat. Have now lost the weight and am rediscovering short skirts and tight more fitted clothes, like I did in my 20s. Only difference is I need a serious amount of scaffoliding underneath

ahundredtimes · 20/09/2009 19:29

36? 36! That's practically 30 you ninny.

There's got to be a cut-off age here. Otherwise we'll have women of 28 turning up and moaning about how they aren't 18 anymore.

There will be no end to everyone's misery about the idea that they may v. well just be getting older. . . .

DillyTantay · 20/09/2009 19:30

agreed top end of 30s and above

ahundredtimes · 20/09/2009 19:33

I shouldn't be here either, with my upbeat, empowering, potent talk. Misery was specified.

I might stay because I made it all up anyway

duckyfuzz · 20/09/2009 19:34

just turned 39 here, agree with finding it impossible to guess ages of others, I was talking to someone the other day who asked when I'd trained as a teacher, when I told her she said 'oh, that's the year I started school'

what about hair then? does a good cut takes years off? mine is just lng enough to tie back at the moment and I'm tempted to keep it that way as it saves time in the morning, but is this a massive faux pas?

CybilLiberty · 20/09/2009 19:35

Anti aging tip-don't bother with that 10 minute dye that's new out, with the comb thing on the end, it's shit, and now my hair resembles ginger straw

francagoestohollywood · 20/09/2009 19:35

I'll be 39 in November.
I know lots about waxing.

I don't usually venture onto Style threads but this one has my name on it.

43 and beginning to feel it. I am turning into my mother. I seem to have inherited her child bearing hips, batwings (they are genetic apparently) and sadly, her bunions.

Nice.

On the plus side I haven't inherited her flat chest (sorry mum) but instead I have a bosom that can at best be described as matronly and sadly befitting someone approaching middle aged.

Add to that several stone of excess blubber and you have a bit of a style disaster.

I was going to start a thread about trying to find some ankle boots but lost my nerve - I don't want to have comment on stilleto heeled sex kitten boots which everybody else can walk in but not me. I need mine flatish, comfy and wide fitting (those bunions again). And I don't care if I wear black boots with jeans either!

ArizonaBarker · 20/09/2009 19:46

No muffin top, more like a couple of tray bakes.

No Lauren Bacall but fashion-wise I channel Dot Cotton.

Best friend found my first ever grey hair yesterday. She is now ensconced under the patio.

You can see your fanjo? You jammy bitch.

purepurple · 20/09/2009 19:48

42 and I feel like I have come home
I have a mission to embarrass my DC with each and every outfit.
The last item of clothing I bought (skinny jeans from Matalan) I had to give to DD as I couldn't even do up the bloody zip.

ahundredtimes · 20/09/2009 19:49

Niece - Oooh I have the perfect thing for you. My friend was wearing them last night - said they were the most comfortable boots she'd EVER worn, they have a slight heel but it's not kittenish. Hang on will see if I can find them, not sure how much they cost.

These, they are three quarter length though but nice

I have all sorts of back pain. And my metatarsus collapsed this summer

ahundredtimes · 20/09/2009 19:51

She said the softest boots ever, and the most comfortable. May well be bunion friendly?

CybilLiberty · 20/09/2009 19:52

100 they are a bit 'Ompapa, Ompapa, that's how it goes' like this

DillyTantay · 20/09/2009 19:52

purepurple · 20/09/2009 19:52
