I get told I look tired all the time. I thought it was cos I wasted precious sleeping time here

kerrymumbles - omg that robert plant look you describe I what I'm heading for I reckon. If only I had the hair I'd be there

I've got a short, choppy cut that should be yknow.. quite young and hip. It looks like that in the hairdressers but after I wash it ends up SO middle aged woman at church

Its that mush of highlights and lowlights that everyone has to disguise their grey. Turning silver into sand sorta thing

And is plucking the only thing you can do for hairy nips? Don't think me or the tweezers are up to it if so

CybilLiberty · 22/09/2009 07:15

Blimey Dt you're up early this morning

Blackduck · 22/09/2009 07:28

Can I join? I am, well, old enough...
Perm - nope - did that at 17 will NOT do it now (I am, however, going to the hairdresser more often as a good short cut is the secret here...)
Elasticated waists - NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I WILL NOT go there (Unless its jogging bottoms, for, um, jogging...)
Slippers - a requirement in this house as it is so bl**dy cold...
Grey hair doesn't bother me as been going grey since I was a teen, but its the fact that my face takes half a day to bounce back after a night out, and that everything creaks...

cocolepew · 22/09/2009 08:01

Vicar it's my right nip that's hairy, if we got together we coud be complete.

TheCappster · 22/09/2009 09:23

well morning all

I am like a new woman today

I have sewn new buttons on my raincoat instead of holding it together at the front in a fist

it has taken me two years to do this

someone said I looked smart

result

NorbertDentressangle · 22/09/2009 10:01

Reading this thread each morning is like a breath of fresh air, especially as I went out with friends last night and am suffering from what blackduck so accurately described as my "face taking half a day to bounce back after a night out".

CatIsSleepy · 22/09/2009 10:11

right am 38 (and a half)
have age spots on my hands
at least 2 white eyebrow hairs
plucking my chin hairs is a little like painting the Forth bridge
i really really need a hair cut
and ok a full body wax
am tired of wearing clothes I can breast-feed in

on the plus side I am wearing my martha jeans today-those and my long black cardy from black are the only decent things in my wardrobe atm
still, am on maternity leave so am supposed to look like a bit of a slob, yes?

from Gap that should be

btw is it just me or is gap a bit shite at the moment?

orangina · 22/09/2009 10:12

I feel ancient, though am a sprightly 42 years old. Went to a wedding recently, surprised myself by dancing until 4am, but my hips hurt for a WEEK afterwards.

Am convinced boots are the answer.

Am loving this thread.

Actually I have something else that I wish to share with you all , its not under the style and beauty banner but I feel that you are all on the same wavelength 'cos of age etc so might offer me some reassurances that its normal.

DP pointed out to me yesterday that I seem to be developing a bit of a thing about chunky men with beards . HTF did that happen?

We went to see Elbow at the MEN in Manchester at the weekend (had seats obviously as I can no longer stand at gigs now I'm 42!) and I confessed to DP that I found Guy Garvey strangely attractive. Then last night we were talking about that Phillipe Starck programme and I was saying how he came across as a lovely man, passionate, funny etc. DP pointed out that that was the 2nd bearded, portly round the middle man that I'd been singing the praises of in as many days.

noddyholder · 22/09/2009 10:26

Washed my hair with a shader toner 49p looks super shiny and clean but no colour change good boost for everyday.

MagicGlassesFairy · 22/09/2009 10:27

DD (6) found a pair of purple ('plum') tights in my wardrobe that I'd bought in an attempt not to feel 43 - she was so surprised she took them downstairs to check that 'daddy knew about them'. Daddy looked a bit worried ....
I haven't even worn them yet (and will only do so with skirt and boots) - but will I just look like middle aged woman trting to look youthful?

orangina · 22/09/2009 10:29

Haha, I have just bought "plum" tights.....!

(Everything else is black)

Definitely the way to go (she says with authority based on sod all)

fishie · 22/09/2009 10:30

i love coloured tights. navy, grey... got some purple ribbed ones and some lovely teal which i haven't worked out what to wear with.

ok today i have the jeggings on and have had one compliment already.

zanz1bar · 22/09/2009 10:32

Count me in please

If I hold a mirror above my face and look up I recognise myself.

If I hold a mirror flat and look down...Yikes I look like the wicked witch of the west from wizard of Oz.

I swear my nose is growing longer and its wasn't small to start with.

castille · 22/09/2009 10:38

Am 37 but not for much longer, and in certain lights my face looks skeletal and I scare myself

I look 10 years younger when preggers - clear skin, lustrous hair, fuller face

Am tempted to have another baby neither of us wants just so I can look ok for another year. AIBU?

CatIsSleepy · 22/09/2009 10:38

dd1 is always rather shocked when i wear anything vaguely different
'why are you wearing that mummy?'

her clothes are better than mine and she is only 3 [green]
