Lovely bag, I think it might be almost perfect...or is it a bit dodgy?

Ici

I just saw it and it spoke to me. It looks useable iykwim and about the right size, ie not HUGE but big enough for actual 'stuff'.

What do we think? I wish they had the aubergine which I think FB originally made too. But grey is kind of weirdly cool.

yeah nice, boden did something similar last year for 130£

GibbonInARibbon · 19/09/2009 13:59

Sorry looks ugly to me but if you like it, that's what matters.

Oliveoil · 19/09/2009 14:00

I don't really like it tbh

I like mahoosive squishy bags myself, usually cos I cart half the world around and there is NOTHING worse than an overloaded bag accessorised by a Tesco's carrier bag to store the crap you couldn't fit in your handbag

mine is huge canvas Diesel number atm, although it does get changed when another one catches my eye

Jumente · 19/09/2009 14:19

Maggie that sounds great, I wish I had time to make stuff any more. (does that make sense?)

I saw the Kew one in the shop yesterday, it was Ok but a bit dazzling...I hope the FB one is less noticeable shine-wise.

Oliveoil I had a huge canvas Diesel messanger bag for YEARS and then I had children - it lasted a while longer as ds1's changing bag but then it got holes in it

I have been looking for another ever since.

I think this one is pretty large though, 40cm or around 15" across the base, it isn't tiny. I will report back once it turns up.

What about this one?

They do it in Python apparently as well

NoahDear · 19/09/2009 14:29

how red is the kew one?
is is burgundy or purpley red?

GibbonInARibbon · 19/09/2009 14:30

If I wore/used leather I would like that one. Prefer it to the first one

Jumente · 19/09/2009 14:30

It is a nice dark red. Not purple at all imo.

The sales assistant was a bit though. And stroppy.

Thanks Gibbon, are you a vegan? I was that strict for a very long time then stopped for some reason. I think I felt stupid in my expensive fake leather vegetarian DMs

It was that or a dunlop plimsoll in those days. Which is could be argued would have been more stylish.

GibbonInARibbon · 19/09/2009 14:43

vegetarian

lol dunlop plimsoll

My new bag arrived this week, my friend in Singapore made one from beautiful vintage japanese fabric. I do have a thing for bags, which is hard when so many are leather

hoxtonchick · 19/09/2009 21:57

this oushka one has a long handle. and a funky lining....

brimfull · 19/09/2009 22:19

i like this one

also love the john lewis one deeja linked

LetThemEatCake · 19/09/2009 22:22

Gibbon, have you checked out Matt & Nat? Vegan bags, absolutely gorgeous in the flesh ... shop near my place stocks them, I loooooooove them

Jumente · 20/09/2009 07:09

The Ouschka linings is beautiful. Nicer than the umbrella stuff imo!

I love the Matt and Nat stuff, that's amazing. I wonder what the lining is like and also how the material stands up to wear?

OP posts:
Jumente · 20/09/2009 07:11

Makes me feel a bit dubious about using leather again seeing that...this from someone who once threw a second hand vintage leather coat in the bin, just because it was, well, made from a dead cow

Then regretted it a bit - what a waste. Buying new leather is I admit a different matter and I should not do it.

oohhh LTEC that site is wonderful!

I shall get giddy with excitement perusing that site

shopalot · 20/09/2009 10:56

purepurple, I love those bags. Is the leather gorgeous?

purepurple · 20/09/2009 13:09

shopalot, it is mostly suede and I love it.
I am thinking about asking DH for the round purple one for Xmas.

Jumente · 21/09/2009 18:44

Well, the grey monstrosity has arrived and actually, despite it being a very good shape and quite useful, I hate the colour and hate the lining!

Never mind. I'm not exactly bereft of bags so I'm sure I will be ok

OP posts:
shopalot · 21/09/2009 22:10

Have you got the large round size or the small? Can you fit lots in, love the site!!

purepurple · 22/09/2009 17:54

shopalot, I didn't know they did different sizes
I can fit lots in mine, an umbrella, my purse, sweets, my mobile phone goes in a little pocket and there is an attached key fob for my keys.
