Do I want some converse-style trainers?

I think I do.

I need something more substantial than ballet-pump-type shoes (what my Dad calls 'outdoor slippers') to wear with my jeans.

Where can I get nice cheapish ones from?

Are there 'rules' about wearing them?

LyraSilvertongue · 02/09/2009 18:54

TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 18:54

I have a couple of pairs and love them.... they go in the washing machine too

TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 18:58

Don't care about cool Lyra, care about looks nice/not too spensive.

Oh Converse are brill- you definitely need some

PCPlumIsMyHomeboy · 02/09/2009 18:58

PF Flyers are fab too-Converse-esque, but in leather, so a bit warmer for winter. You can get them in Schuh

Wilts · 02/09/2009 19:00

My local Shuh has some Dorothyesque red sparkly converse today, they were lovely. I would never be brave enough to wear them though!

TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 19:02

WHat do you think of these purple things?

PCPlumIsMyHomeboy · 02/09/2009 19:04

Yuck.

Sorry.

Wilts · 02/09/2009 19:06

Hmm I like the pattern, don't like that they are addidas. Not to be worn the same way as converse I don't think.

cookielove · 02/09/2009 19:07

oh i quite like them, kinda cute

and def buy converse but for me it has to be converse

TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 19:08

Red vans (hope link works)

Rocket dog may be too neon for me, not sure

Actual converse

Like Cookie says, it has to be Converse.

Have a shop around though as they vary in price. Amazon often have cheaper ones.

Wilts · 02/09/2009 19:12

Well I would say the converse- Dh ordered that exact colour today!

If you like the Rocket dog, have you looked at the Babycham ones?

TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 19:12

Why does it have to be converse? I just mean that I wanted some very falt non-chunky trainer-type things.

OP posts:
cookielove · 02/09/2009 19:16

what i mean is don't buy cheapy next version of coverse, personally i think if your going for the look you should get the name not the fake copy

Wilts · 02/09/2009 19:18

I agree with Cookielove.

I had some cheapy fakes and they just didn't look the same, also Converse seem virtually indestructible

TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 19:20

Okay, but what if it's a similar style but a different 'name'? Is that allowed? The converse I can see are only £35 so doesn't seem worth getting cheapy next ones, and they are going to take a lot of wear so I want good quality.

Thanks for brand recommendation PCPlum and Wilts - I have no idea so am just looking at words that I think I have seen before, or that someone has mentioned to me.

OP posts:
cookielove · 02/09/2009 19:24

well yeah you can go for other brand names, but converse are good, i like babyshams to and my friend likes rocket dogs but i find they fit very slim on the heel and are to uncomfortable.

My lovely Converse

TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 19:28

Wow, that's very pink! I think I'm gonna go for a maroon or dark purple if that option is available.

OP posts:
cookielove · 02/09/2009 19:29

i like pink, i think every colour is available

Can anyone see the difference between burgundy and maroon here?

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 02/09/2009 19:39

(by the way didn't mean pink was bad cookie, meant wow in a good way)
