I am thinking of getting some Hunter wellies. Any opinions greatly appreciated...

I am bored of always wearing my walking boots when it's raining, and this means my walking boots only go with certain jeans (I.E not skinny)

Was thinking of getting some wellies, and Hunter ones look nice, and would look good with skinny jeans (or with any others tucked in, I mean, it is only walking in the rain, or the country FGS!)

Any opinions? Anyone has some? Or alternatives? I have skinny legs, so have to take that into account too.

Have worn hunters for years; green ones lasted about ten years, blue for about ten years now. They have since come into fashion I believe, so am sometimes paranoid i look like a Kate wannabe, but really i don't care as they are brilliant for dog walking and general park visiting stuff!

Have skinny legs, look fine.

I love mine (blue and about 14 years old ie. prob not used that much) but I have to admit that they are very slippy.

Know many others who find them slippy too on wet stone/pavements. Friend suggested that this might be the reason that Hunter welly people all wear duck down coats to protect them when they fall!!

I do love them though and far nicer than the novelty wellies you see everywhere.

They are SO comfy-like proper boots, not like wellies at all.

I love mine, really comfy. I held off getting some for years as my parents both live in them, but then they gave me some for christmas and they are way better than other wellies I've had

themachinist have you got the short of normal ones? And does that buckle but mean you can alter the fit (or is it just decoration)

Hunter do a lovely fleece liner designed to go inside the welly and folds over the top - makes it a really warm boot for the winter - the whole lot will go over jeans/skinny legs easily. If you are thinking of buying the fleece inserts, try them on with the wellies - they can make the boot feel too small - so buy a large enough size.

Would never buy another type of wellie, Hunters are the best. I don't have particularly skinny legs (and so don't even look very nice in them!) but they are comfy. With the last couple of summers being so wet I've lived in them practically all year long.

Just to throw a spanner in the works - I've been wearing Hunters virtually all of my welly-wearing life. I was going to have a 2cm Hunter welly tatooed on my a*se at one stage - surely that is brand loyalty par excellence?

However - in truth, if you use them a lot, they wear quickly, mainly in the crease above the toes, and can split. The soles wear quickly and become slippery in wet mud as well. I am speaking about the standard boot, not the Royale, which are very different.

I feel like a traitor, but I am now a convert to French wellies. Aigle and Chameau. Pricey, but warmer, longer lasting and just as comfortable.

PS - Hunters are still v. good!

Afraid I slip DH's Le Chameau on in preference to my Hunters. They are neoprene lined and even though one size too big are just somehow less slippy and generally more comfy, but then again they cost 4 times as much !!

i really really want some but too much!although it would be cheaper in the long run instead of going through wellies like i do!

found some the other day for £30 but only if your a size 3!-im not

Hunter make a more affordable boot, called Lowther. They have the same 'jingle jangle I've spent £50 buckle' on the side, but they weren't £50.
They are jolly light, but the sole only has ridges running across the bottom. So in super slick slopping mud they grip and then wahey you're on your bottom.
But they're green!

I have these which are basically waterproof leather wellies. They are much warmer than wellies and have a proper walking boot sole. I do a lot of walking ( 2 hours a day) as I have a dog and so I go out in all weathers. They are expensive but I got mine half price at a Musto outlet.

dexter I've been looking for some winter boots that will fit over my straight leg as well as my skinny jeans. Also been looking for wellies and now I want those! If only I had a spare £250!

Mine are gorgeous. Love them in the winter and for looking fashionable in fields!

Guys I am hooked. But I need help:

*shall I get tall or short?
*what colour looks good but not too boring, not too flashy (and would you go for contracting welly liner, or the same colour?

Saw some nice brown and graphite ones? Otherwise has to be green or blue.

Ooooo graphite like the sound of that.

What about those equestrian style hunters? Or best to stick ro 'originals'?
