Just had my skin ripped off during eyebrow wax. WWYD. Pic on profile

I went to get my brows waxed this morning.

It stung a bit, but it always does.

I looked in the mirror and said it was fine. It was red and swollen, but it always is after waxing.

When I got home, it was still stinging so I looked in the mirror to find that my skin has been ripped off. Pic on my profile.

I am torn between going there and making a fuss, but not wanting the lassie to get into trouble.

But then, she's arsed up my eyebrows big time. Just as well I wasn't getting them done for some big occasions.

What do you think I should do? It's just a wee local salon, so if I kick up a stink then I can't ever go back....

so bad i said it twice

PMSLBrokeMN · 03/06/2009 13:17

I think a call to your local newspaper if you don't get any reply/joy from the boss would work wonders!

mawbroon · 03/06/2009 13:18

Yes indeed it is shit.

I must say that she didn't seem surprised to see me, and neither were the other girls in the salon.

Make sure you have plenty of photos of it.

They are totally out of order in not taking responsibility for this.

It is fair enough to make a mistake, but to then deny it is not on at all.

pellmell · 03/06/2009 13:35

I had this happen to me...looked the same!
The girl said it was a problem with sensitive skin and not holding the skin tight enough. She aplogised, gave me the offer of a refund and a return treatment like facial etc.
I actually refused to be compensated because I felt it was a sincere goodwill gesture.
She tweezered them next time....by christ that blimmin hurt

warthog · 03/06/2009 13:36

very bad service! are you sure you want to go back anyway?

mawbroon · 03/06/2009 13:37

Nope, I'm not going back there, whatever they come up with.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 03/06/2009 13:44

Ouchy! I would complain untill i got some compensation and an apology.

brokenspacebar · 03/06/2009 14:07

and ouch, what would it have taken to get her to apologise?

could you complain to someone... environmental health/trading standards? (it was supposed to be an eyebrow wax, not skin removal...)

IcantbelieveImForty · 03/06/2009 14:17

Oooh goodness - that's not good. Absolutely make sure you get compensated.

If it makes you feel better, I tried a DIY brazillian & had a not-quite-as-bad result. It scabbed over the next day.

Make sure you take a photo every day to track it's progress as it may go weepy.

trixymalixy · 03/06/2009 14:33

I had this happen to me 2 days before a friend's wedding. It went nice and crusty.

I haven't had my eyebrows waxed since (6 years ago).

I wish I had complained at the time.

You're not in Glasgow are you mawbroon?

mawbroon · 03/06/2009 14:35

Nope, I'm in Embra trixy.

I think it will go weepy then scab over.

Lovely.

Ooh painful. This happened to me too, I didn't complain but the next time I was passing (was a beauty salon in the local gym) the woman who butchered me was nowhere to be seen.

Slight hijack - is Nailpolish still around? If not and you see her in rl can you say that I said "hi".

amidaiwish · 03/06/2009 14:43

the thing is even if you were ovulating, sensitive skin etc etc that still shouldn't have happened!! it is an eyebrow wax, not a high risk medical procedure.

and secondly what the hell was the wax doing all the way down there anyway? when i had that done to me the damage was just below my eyebrow, still the beautician was v apologetic though didn't actually take the blame then either

squeaver · 03/06/2009 14:46

You should name and shame them, MawB.

And tell everyone you know not to go there.

And tell the manager that that's what you're doing.

edam · 03/06/2009 14:50

owwwww! Local paper or trading standards your best bet, given the waxer is trying to get away with it.

wotulookinat · 03/06/2009 14:53

Yep, local paper and trading standards. I cannot understand why she would have been waxing there anyway.
Sounds like she knew she had done it if she wasn't surprised to see you back.

MorrisZapp · 03/06/2009 17:37

Name and shame, mawbroon! I'm in Morningside, was it round here?

Flower3545 · 03/06/2009 17:46

If you have the bosses mobile number you could try texting with a photo and telling them that your next stop is the local newspaper.

mawbroon · 03/06/2009 17:50

No, not morningside.

Will name and shame on MN local if I don't get any joy from boss. But I feel I should give him a chance first....

OP posts:
warthog · 03/06/2009 18:12

he hasn't returned your call yet??!

mawbroon · 03/06/2009 18:13

No, i didn't leave a message. Wanted to catch him without a prepared answer!

OP posts:
mawbroon · 03/06/2009 19:01

right, I have left him a message now.......
