what shoes/accessories with this dress please?

I have bought a dress off ebay for a formal summer charity do, ive put the picture on my profile, hopefully it is visible.
I am rubbish at dressing up so please help me find shoes/accessories as i dont even know what colour to go for.
The dress is a dark bluey purple with black lace over the top.
Do i need anything over my arms?
Final question, im a bit scared of it slipping down a bit too far, any top tips to keeping it in place?
Please help!

Gosh, what a lovely dress!

ilovetochat · 11/05/2009 15:08

i never normally get bargains so i was very pleased with myself finding this, can you help me finish the outfit?

Use tit tape! Make sure there is no body lotion or anything on skin (I'd wipe area with toner or something), apply tape to skin then stick dress to it - voila!
I'd go for peep toe sandals in same colour as dress.

ilovetochat · 11/05/2009 15:15

adds tit tape to shopping list, where do i buy tit tape (dont fancy asking a young spotty male assistant wheres ya tit tape).
sandals in a dark blue/purple?

pmsl at the shop assistant's face if you did! Now there is a question.....think you can get from Urban Outfitters, Oasis and probably somewhere like Claire's Accessories. It is called Fashion Tape or Gravitape - have a look on good ol' eBay!

EldonAve · 11/05/2009 15:27

tape stuff here too

ilovetochat · 11/05/2009 15:29

thank you, much rather ask for fashion tape, will look on ebay.
any suggestions for nice shoes?
Do i need a shrug of some sort?

It would help if you could tell us your colouring - hair, skin etc, and whether or not you mind showing your back/arms/legs? HTH

ilovetochat · 12/05/2009 20:05

my hair is mid brown and short, my skin is olive coloured and i dont mind showing shoulders/arms but may feel a bit exposed walking in/out of event.
I cant walk in very high heels and want to spend minimum money, hence the ebay dress.
thanks.

Hi, if you are not wanting to spend a lot then maybe these would suit? They come in cream and silver. I'm not a massive fan of New Look shoes as they don't have a leather upper and as such make your feet sweat, but if it was only for one day then might they do? You could maybe also have a cream faux fur shrug or tippet to cover your shoulders which would tie in with the cream shoes. Maybe a clutch bag in similar colour - try Accessorize. I would keep jewellery quite simple and minimal. HTH.

ilovetochat · 13/05/2009 14:57

thank you blondissimo, those shoes are great as you say its only one night so dont want to spend much, thanks for looking for me!

nice dress!!

ilovetochat · 13/05/2009 21:50

thanks LTEC, its taken me long enough to find it eh
just the shrug to go now, oh and tit tape

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 13/05/2009 21:58

can I put in my 2 cents worth?
I think you DON'T need a shrug, especially not one in silver when you already have a bag & shoes in that colour - too much

Also, since the top of the dress is already double-layer, a shrug in a third colour will be overkill.

Black or pearl grey pashmina if you must!!!!

ilovetochat · 13/05/2009 22:22

I am a fashion disaster so will take all advice. I actually have 2 lace shrugs in black and blue and the top section of the dress is black lace so maybe your right.

I am worrying now that the dress is quite dark and will the shoes and bag look a bit mad.

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 13/05/2009 22:25

not at all. Silver shoes and bag perfect - just go easy on jewellery.

ilovetochat · 13/05/2009 22:27

i was just going to wear a white gold necklace and bracelet?

marymungoandmidge · 13/05/2009 22:40

Sorry ilove - love the dress, but not with those shoes...(okay on strictly come dancing though)Think you need something funkier (peep toe wedges) in similar shade to dress imo...classy silver accessories brilliant with olive skin...perfect!
