what shoes/accessories with this dress please?

ilovetochat · 11/05/2009 15:04

I have bought a dress off ebay for a formal summer charity do, ive put the picture on my profile, hopefully it is visible.
I am rubbish at dressing up so please help me find shoes/accessories as i dont even know what colour to go for.
The dress is a dark bluey purple with black lace over the top.
Do i need anything over my arms?
Final question, im a bit scared of it slipping down a bit too far, any top tips to keeping it in place?
Please help!

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 14/05/2009 13:57

love i think you will look lovely in those
do you think you need shrug? or could you go without?
will you be cold if not?
you could perhaaps get away with black too as the bag is sort of black and silver.

Clure · 14/05/2009 14:15

if you had to have a shrug how about
this is unfussy

think silver shoes and bag would look good. Its a gorge dress by the way

JeanPoole · 14/05/2009 14:28

yes i think clure is right something quite plain.
as the dress is fairly detailed.

ilovetochat · 14/05/2009 14:34

Hi JP and clure, no i dont need a shrug really as the event is all inside, i have a black shrug which i could wear just for walking in, that one in debenhams is lovely but i dont want to spend that much.
I could just wear a jacket to walk in if its cold and hang it up straight away, only problem is my going out jacket is like a bronze colour which would look bad.
may have to wear black shrug for short time.

(off subject, JP took dd to a splash around session at the childrens centre pool today and she loved it. we did songs and they had footballs/watering cans/floating letters and numbers to play with, only 5 kids, 1 instructor and it was £1, best activity she has done in ages.}

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 14/05/2009 14:45

love2 if i where you, i'd go for the one you already have and just wear it for going in.
no point spending money on something your not that keen on.
esp if you already have something at home.

save the money till you see something you really like.

£1, thats brill, we have been for our thu am swim, dd does love swimming although her confidence exceeds her ability!
she was climbing out and jumping in, he went under the water 3/4 times but carried on.
we don't have a children center pool here.
but the childrens sure start is really good.

ilovetochat · 14/05/2009 14:55

its great when they get confident in the water isnt it, will be great on holiday!
When do you go to Majorca?
Thanks for all your help with my outfit, looking forward to a good night out now!

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 14/05/2009 15:12

you enjoy yourself you deserve a treat

go to majorca middle of next month.
i can't wait.
just got a few last min things to get/sort
dd loves water.
i think she will love paddling in the sea.and wadeing about

is your holiday in sept?

ilovetochat · 14/05/2009 15:15

majorca in spetember but we are going to west wales middle of next month and come back on dds birthday.
we have let her have all her outside toys early, slide, climbing frame, sand and water table, table and chairs and little tea set.
then the day after her birthday we are having tea and cake with family and her little presents. looking for ideas at the moment, was recommended some good puzzles on another thread from amazon.

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 14/05/2009 15:20

you have loads of hol! jammy bugger
only kidding

i love holidays.
best times ever.
id love to go travelling with dd before she starts school.
where did you get the tea set from?
i got dd the cozy coupe.
from ebay.

ilovetochat · 14/05/2009 20:14

its the spotty tea set from ELC, she loves it playing tea partys with her teddys and dolls at her table.
Does your dd like the car?
I love hols too, i love being by the coast, id like to move near the coast, we keep joking we looked at a hose last time we went and we might not come back this time.

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 14/05/2009 20:47

oh i know the one you mean.
its lovely

i haven't collected the car yet, going to put it up. for her bday

i would love to live by the sea, dorset ideally

ilovetochat · 14/05/2009 21:32

we saw a lovely house last year, really pretty by the sea and met some lovely people but dp would have to find work there and there are no jobs anywhere at the moment. I would move though.
Bet she will love the car!

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 14/05/2009 21:38

where would you like to go? wales?

funny enough at the bank holiday me and dh where talking of moving to dorset.
we even had a look for jobs for dh on the internet.

only trouble is leaving family and friend here and being a good 2 hour drive from them
how would you feel about moving from your friends and family?

i've just got dd something else as well
a ride on thomas with track.
from ebay too. thank heavens for ebay!
like this

ilovetochat · 15/05/2009 13:32

that looks great! dds main presents off us are the slides so im after a few little indoor things now. not really sure what. she has so many books and cuddly toys and dolls i dont know what she would like.
I love the south coast and the weather is better but i liked the countryside in wales and like the people too. I would miss my mom as i see her twice a week but tbh wouldnt miss my dad or OLs much as i find them hard work, i would be happy seeing them every few months. I have lost touch with a lot of friends and really feel like im at a bit of a crossroads and feel if we dont move in the next couple of years we never will cos dd will be settled in school and i will be working again and it will be too late.

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 16/05/2009 13:02

lovetochat, its sooo weird me and dh where talking about exactley that [moving to the coast]
at the bank holiday weekend.
i know just what you mean about its now or never before they start school.
im seriusly serously considering it.
how do you find the house prices compare from your area to where you would like to move?
what do you think you will do?

picked up the train this am, its really nice although very slow. i hope dd likes it you never really know whats gonna be a hit or miss really do you?
i am going to put it up though and give it to her on her birthday.

ilovetochat · 16/05/2009 16:55

i think we are very similar in a lot of our thinking.
The house prices are much cheaper in west wales. Last time we saw a beautiful cottage by the sea, it had 5 bedrooms and the master bedroom was the converted attic which was gorgeous and even had a hottub in a summer house and the views were lovely, it only cost £175000 and the locals schools and small but friendly. In the Midlands £175000 would buy a 3 bed detached or maybe even only a semidetached.
But we looked at a few jobs there at the local council and the wages are much lower so its relative really.
Ive just taken dd to a party and there was a mini bouncy castle there from tesco for £20 and all the toddlers loved it. i might get one for dds birthday, but it would fill the conservatory.
dd went to baby gymnastics yesterday and she can walk across the beam, i held one hand but she didnt really need me too, it was her first time there too, im definitley going again!

OP posts:
ilovetochat · 16/05/2009 16:57

oh btw, the silver shoes and handbag came and they look great with the dress. i tried on the black shrug and it looked terrible as it was too long and covered some of the dress front but then i found a blue shrug i forgot about, much smaller and shorter, just under the arms and round the back and it looks lovely so unless i see the perfect silver one im sticking with this blue one. i definitley need fashion tape though as i danced about with dd and exposed myself infront of the window

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 16/05/2009 22:01

oh great, i'm glad the shoes and bag are lovely
what result finding a shrug you had forgotton
all you need to do now is have a great time

yes i agree we are pretty similar in thinking. funny enough when i said at the bank holiday we looks for jobs for dh, that was also council jobs as he works in public finance local goverment.

the baby gym sounds great i'd love to take dd to that as shes very physical.
i was going to get a petrol pump to go with the car but the one i was watching on ebay went for 40 quid.
i do feel guilty sometimes getting her quite aa few things for her birthday, but then i get them 2nd hand alot then sell when finished so bit silly to feel guilty really

we have been to tgi fridays tonight was suprising nice.
dd got 2 ballons
she was happy

i know you said your dd likes puzzles have you seen this one ?

JeanPoole · 16/05/2009 22:08

here

oh that house sounds like a real dream home esp the hot tub.

did i tell you we are going to dorset next weekend?
going to have a look about then.

another idea i have thought of is, buy a touring caravan and keep it down there for the season may-oct or something.
then go when ever we want.
then if after a while if we got fed up of the same place the next year park it up somewhere else for the season.
i think it costs about 1500 to get a season pitch though

ilovetochat · 17/05/2009 20:36

puzzle looks good, thanks! she had a jigsaw book last week and she can do it already, 9 piece puzzles too, its hard keeping with her finding new stuff all the time. i dont think there is anything wrong with getting them stuff, especially off ebay and you can always sell it on afterwards.
hope you have a lovely weekend in dorset, you may find your dream home. dp works in local council too, as did i before dd.
we nearly bought a static caravan last year from a friend for £8000 but the fees were £1700 per year and we didnt think we would use it enough as dp works a lot of saturdays. good job we didnt buy it as they put the fees up to £3000 this year and we would have never been able to sell it.

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 17/05/2009 21:20

how many puzzles are in the puzzle book?
i think you've got a puzzle genius on your hands here!
if i see any good ones when im shopping i'll tell you.
good jb you didn't get that static one then, wht a rip off almost doubling the fees!
what puts me off statics is after they get to a certain age they want them off the park don't they.

Just been to collect the car, its really nice. i think dd will like esp the little door.

the shed is bulging with the thomas set and little car and her smart trike is in there too.

dd is in bed and i cab her her laughing and kissing her rah rah(rabbit)

ilovetochat · 17/05/2009 22:01

ah cute, dd sleeps with a little pink teddy she had when she was born and his arm is nearly falling off, she chews him when teething.
dd loves puzzles and matching pictures etc, but at the moment she is happiest with crayons.

OP posts:
JeanPoole · 19/05/2009 15:56

Hi lovetochat, how are you today? hows your dd? well dds bee a bit moody today, not wanting to do anything for long.
get the playdoh out, plays for it for 2 mins then gets bored etc.
think i will take her out tomorrow.
don't know where yet though.

she keeps striping herself naked in the cot, she must be cold.

i did manage to get dd outin the garden this am to play, and i was dying to ger her new toys out, but i'm being good and saving them for her birthday.

ilovetochat · 20/05/2009 13:51

Hi JP, well Monday i took dd to her music class and she loved it. then yesterday i took her shopping and we went to clarks and her feet had grown from a size 4 to size 5 (only measured 3 weeks a go) so i bought her some doodles for her holidays. I got some soft stuff, a whistle and go thomas and a button board puzzle from ELC. Then we met my mom from work and she came back for a while.

Then last night i started feeling terrible, stomach cramps, headache, shivering, aching all over and then i was really really sick, i just lay on the bathroom floor till i felt a bit better and then went to bed at 8.30. dp looked after dd and then put her to bed and went and fetched me some medicine but i woke today feeling terrible and i had to put dd on my lap and slide downstairs as i was too weak to walk. dont know whether its something i ate (but we all had the same) or a gastric bug but i feel awful.

poor dd wanted to play out as its the first dry day in a week and i cant do anything.
