Are these shoes too slutty for black tie?

I already have champagne silk sandals (karen millen) but I bought a black dress that is very fashionable, this the champagne shoes look a bit too elegant.

But, it is a black tie event after all, so I still want to look more fashion-aware glamerous women than a bit of a slut

Am I better off with a strappy black sandal?

Sorry but I always see women in ball gowns or cocktail dresses with sandally things on their feet and cringe. It is not warm at night and sandals never ever look good at black tie, being able to see toes unless it is at a less foraml event is never very nice.

I would say not to wear champagne with black as you are right your feet would disappear and there is not point doing that when it is all about leg lengthening when you are sittin ghaving dinner and then I presume the room would be dark.

With shoes repeat over and over a good pair of shoes is a good pair of shoes is a good pair of shoes - a cheap pair of shoes is just nasty!

Hmm see what you mean madame. My existing shoes are peep toe than open toe (you can only see my big toe and the next one) and heel is encased. Can one get away with that? (I have been to the ball for the last 4 years and it is always warm!)

leg lengthening-wise, I will be sat down for formal dinner, but there is lots of mingling and dancing to be done too.

I did like those lkbennet ones though although when you factor in new bag too....££££

Next do some that are almost the same.

Jewelsandgems · 27/04/2009 21:05

My worry with next is that I get there and someone else is wearing the same shoes (which is why I made sure my dress was not from coast, monsoon, debenhams...you get the picture)

Amazingly, lots of the ones I was liking on next were the same colour as my karen millen shoes anyway!

think for something formal and glam then these are quite lovely;

pied a terre

also

good value for money

like these ones

the last 2 styles come in black (the other colour option opens first)

Wow they are all really nice! My favourite are the carvela ones. Think they would look gorgeous [swoon emoticon]

yes, I like those best too. Think the gold heel is a nice touch. You could use any old black satin bag as well. They dont expose your feet too much either, just in case it's a bit nippy!

poshtottie · 27/04/2009 21:33

Those Carvela ones are gorgeous but I love LK bennett shoes and those black ones are stunning.

BitOfFun · 27/04/2009 22:13

There's a sale on at Kurt Geiger- I got a gorgeous pair of high heeled satin peeptoes with a bow on the back in black for £39 last week, worth a look?

MadameCastafiore · 28/04/2009 10:40

Noooooooooooooooo they show too much toeage!

sleepwhenidie · 28/04/2009 22:18

You clearly have some kind of toe-phobia madame ?

Jewelsandgems · 29/04/2009 08:06

yes but madame, you don't see the celebs on the red carpet [for oscars or the like] in a fab to-die-for dress teamed with a pair of court shoes do you? They are all wearing strappy sandals, with lots of toe on show!
