Those of you that do your make up every day - what do you put on?

I have promised myself that I will start looking after myself a bit more after having DC no 3. So I am now using the oil cleansing method which seems to be working (early days though).

I would quite like to start wearing a bit of slap but not really sure where to start what to put on. I have fair skin and fair hair. Any tips? Any good brands?

I just use a little brush of Bourjois blusher.

That's all - find a tone that goes with your colouring, Rose Frisson is pinky, there are others. People always say I look healthy but without it I look dreadful!!

I can't be bothered with foundation and all that - it'd wreck my skin, I think.

Overmydeadbody · 27/04/2009 12:24

I always put on mascara, usually eye shadow too, but a pale subtle one. In winter I'll use a bit of blush or tinted mousturiser too so I look a bit healthier.

I use lip gloss when I'm out and about too.

If your skin's quite fair I'd go for brown mascara rather than black for everyday wear.

Overmydeadbody · 27/04/2009 12:25

I never use foundation either.

TrillianAstra · 27/04/2009 12:25

Is you have fair hair then mascara will make a massive difference to how your face looks.

I have a selection of colured eyeliner pencils for when I want some makeup but can't be bothered to do proper eyeshadow stuff.

Flightattendant25 · 27/04/2009 12:26

I wish I could use mascara but it just makes my eyes itch and the skin under them goes red.

Every time, every brand...

and what's with eyeliner, surely it's wrong to put anything on the inside of your eye? How do people bear the pain?

You don't have to do eyeliner on the inside lid if you don't want - I do it just outside where the lashes come out.

littlelamb · 27/04/2009 12:29

Foundation. When I am not pg or bf my skin is alright but soemthing about being pregnant and breastfeeding sends it into a hormonal mess. Highlighter on top to give some sheen- Benefit HighBeam is good.
Blusher- I have a shimmery one from the Bodyshop.
Eyeshadow. You just can't go wrong with MAC. Expensive but it is worth the extra imo.
Some eyeliner along the lower lid- am wearing a purple one atm.
Brown mascara. NO7s 360 is really really good.
It sounds a lot but it probably takes less time to put on than it has taken me to type out! Part of it is just getting in the habit of doing it- once you're confident with what you're doing it takes no time.

Flightattendant25 · 27/04/2009 12:29

Ah thanks TA. I wish I was good at this stuff!

littlelamb · 27/04/2009 12:29

Oh and a juicytube- can't go wrong with the melon one

TrillianAstra · 27/04/2009 12:31

If you are really a flight attendant don't they give you courses in putting on huge amounts of slap?

Flightattendant25 · 27/04/2009 12:32

er - yes- er no

have I been rumbled?

Megglevache · 27/04/2009 12:34

foundation
concealer
cream blush
eye liner
bronzer
mascara
high light
brow pencil

if rushed:

foundation or tinted moisturiser
mascara
brow pencil.

I feel like a munter without my slap.

I'd start with a tinted moisturiser (body shop do a lovely one) and their vitamin e luminous cream is lovely and a bit of mascara and clear lip gloss- it won't seem like you have too much on then.

sagacious · 27/04/2009 12:37

Benefit Dr Feelgood
Touche eclat under eyes
Mascara (usually black)
Eyebrow pencil (since having mine reshaped makes a big difference)
Benefit Thrrrob (thats not a typo) blusher
Lip balm

cupofteaplease · 27/04/2009 12:37

I wear:

Clinique- La Base (an oil free base before applying make up)
Clinique luminessence- foundation
Bourjois- chocolate bronzer
Ruby and Millie- i writer, black liquid eyeliner, top and bottom
Max Factor/L'Oreal- Black non waterproof mascara

I always curl my lashes.

I wear the above makeup everyday, it takes about 10 minutes to apply. I remove my makeup with dd2's baby wipes don't tell any beauticians, I'm sure that is frowned upon!

littlelamb · 27/04/2009 12:39

sagacious, I can never get my touche eclat to look like it's actually done anything iyswim. What am I doing wrong? I'm only gettign about 2 hours sleep a night atm and need all the help I can get

hairtwiddler · 27/04/2009 12:41

body shop vitamin E tinted moisturiser.
Clinique everyday mascara
brow pencil
lip gloss

Only been doing it in the last six months or so - also as a resolution to look after myself more. Have had lots of positive comments...

Since the tinted moisturiser I've been told I look healthy. It's very very subtle.

ruddynorah · 27/04/2009 12:42

oil cleansing method.

bourjois 10 hr sleep foundation.
aldi touche eclat alike (i have big veins under my eyes that look like bags).
bronzing powder.
maybelline waterproof mascara.

if i have more time or i'm going to work then i also wear
clinique grey black eyeliner.
no.17 creme blusher.
bourjois lip shine.
possibly some eye shadow in whatever shade i fancy..possible a light grey, or a beigeish shimmer thing.

VinegarTitsThePorker · 27/04/2009 12:49

No7 mousse foundation (tis very light and covers my flaws)
Clinique true bronze (sunblushed)
Clinique lash doubling mascara (black)
Clinique eye shadow (charcoal)
Clinique blusher (smoldering plum)
Clinique lip gloss (raspberry)

sounds like a lot but i only use a faint hint of each and have very dark hair and eyes against very pale skin

Megglevache · 27/04/2009 12:49

hairt that vitE stuff is lovely isn't it?

Megglevache · 27/04/2009 12:50

what is this boil cleansing thing everyone is going on about?

Megglevache · 27/04/2009 12:51

erm

boil = oil

hairtwiddler · 27/04/2009 12:55

It is lovely. Put some on my extremely pale mother and made her look loads better and not the slightest bit orange.

MarthaFarquhar · 27/04/2009 13:07

I also have fair skin and hair. Most days I wear:

Benefit Non-fiction foundation (just around eyes as I find concealers too thick for my skin)
Bourjois rose frisson blusher
Bourjois liner-stylo eye pencil (brown/black)
Max factor masterpiece mascara

if you are very fair, then brown/black mascara and eyeliner look a bit less harsh than black, IMO.

McDreamy · 27/04/2009 13:13

Wow thanks for all the replies, loads of great advice!
