I don't have any practical shoes for doing any decent amount of walking in, ballet flats are fine for wandering around town but I want something I can walk in for hours and hours.

To wear with jeans or linen trousers in summer, maybe a knee length denim skirt or is that pushing things??

Are you 6 years old - if so they are great.

DrNortherner · 25/03/2009 17:00

Personally I do not like them at all. And definatley a total no no with a skirt!

smurfgirl · 25/03/2009 17:02

Really what should I wear then?

I reallllllllly like them as well but am open to advice.

I am 24 sadly!!

Personally I would wear flip flops (nice jewelled leather ones) with a skirt or linen trews and converse with jeans.

sazzerbear · 25/03/2009 17:14

Birkenstocks are the way to go!

reikizen · 25/03/2009 17:16

Oh yes, I like those. I think they'd look nice with jeans. But then I only wear trainers in winter and birkenstocks in summer so what do I know?

smurfgirl · 25/03/2009 17:17

Can't do flip flops for walking though.

In summer do flipflops for around town/short distances but my feet are crappy and need support. Converse rub my feet.

We are going away in May and August and we will be doing lots of walking, not rambling around the hills but out all day so need comfort.

Oh, I think they're hideous. Why not wear lace-up pumps instead?

moondog · 25/03/2009 17:22

The sort of thing a middle aged church warden would wear with a beige fleece.
Minging.
Get proper clogs if owt at all.

sazzerbear · 25/03/2009 17:23

Birkenstocks are v comfy as moulded soles - great for walking

MrsMerryHenry · 25/03/2009 17:23

I'll have you know I'm a middle-aged church warden (called Mervyn) and I would NEVER put such monstrosities on my feet!

moondog · 25/03/2009 17:24

Respeck to all church wardens.Hell, am Sunday school teacher meself!

georgiemum · 25/03/2009 17:27

Have a look on the Geox website. I've got a pair of black loafers that I wear all the time - thinking of getting another pair for summer wearing. They are the comfiest shoes on the planet.

Trinityrhino · 25/03/2009 17:37

I love them and would wear them just as you have described

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 17:40

I have some a lot like that, don't waer them much though because I find they get really smelly if I don't wear socks (and I wanted them for summeryness).

missblythe · 25/03/2009 17:42

They are monstrous, I'm afraid.

Birkenstocks all the way!

mrsdisorganised · 25/03/2009 17:43

Smurfgirl...I would wear them..I'm 29...had a pair of dark blue shoes with flowers on which were very similar! Lovely and girly!

TheJester · 25/03/2009 18:07

I like them! I have a similar s'oliver pair from last summer. I wear them with jeans. I woudln't wear them with a skirt but mainly because i need a bit of height. If tall I would. surprised everybody hates them

TheJester · 25/03/2009 18:09

btw, I also walk a lot. I can't walk a mile to the school and back again in jewelled flip flops.

TimGunn · 25/03/2009 18:11

They are suitable for a child and that's it.

Megglevache · 25/03/2009 18:12

I think they are quite cute, in a retro 50's way.

smurfgirl · 25/03/2009 18:23

Black loafers is not very me tbh.

I looked at campers, am not sure really. Hmmm.

It is hard to find nice comfy flats isn't it?
