Do you like these shoes?

I don't have any practical shoes for doing any decent amount of walking in, ballet flats are fine for wandering around town but I want something I can walk in for hours and hours.

To wear with jeans or linen trousers in summer, maybe a knee length denim skirt or is that pushing things??

Campers are great - like converse but for people with wide feet! here

smurfgirl · 25/03/2009 18:36

See I think they look like the PE shoes I wore in primary school!!

These are ok
shop.camper.com/producto.xhtml?option=20719-010&lng=en# but !! at £80!!

i really really like them, i'm 21, and would definatly wear them with a skirt, although you cant wear socks! and with jeans. if you like tham and would be comfortable in them, go for it.

themoon66 · 25/03/2009 18:41

I'd wear the Camper ones with a skirt, but not the ones in the OP.

PestoBlusteryMonster · 25/03/2009 18:42

no

Amandoh · 25/03/2009 19:17

I wore these M&S pumps last Summer for walking the dogs. We walked for miles and they were extremely comfortable.

mrsmaidamess · 25/03/2009 19:18

Not much more to add other than PLEASE DO NOT BUY THOSE SKETCHERS CLOGS.

sincitylover · 25/03/2009 19:50

Smurfgirl at your age you may actually have a better grasp of fashion than some of us older mnetters!!

I was prepared not to like them but actually I don't think they are too bad and could imagine them with a linen or denim skirt.

I would not wear them but I am alot older and tend to wear Birkenstocks in summer and walk for miles in them am also very short so like a little bit of height.

One thing I do hate is ballet pumps on grown women to me they look like little girls shoes and the absence of any heel think they make women look all out of proportion.

mumof2andabit · 25/03/2009 20:33

I want them! And am not 6 lol

sickofthisrain · 25/03/2009 20:35

sorry, no.
Another vote for Birkenstocks here. Or Converse..

Ronaldinhio · 25/03/2009 20:59

grotesco

MrsMcCluskey · 25/03/2009 21:05

Those shoes are awful
very middle aged

letswiggle · 25/03/2009 21:51

Don't get them - I had some Skechers like that and the sole sort of gave way on one side so that my foot wasn't properly flat and it made my knee hurt like hell to walk in them. One of my friends had the same problem.

letswiggle · 25/03/2009 21:52

Get some converse

letswiggle · 25/03/2009 21:54

like these

smurfgirl · 25/03/2009 22:04

Converse rub my heels.

I had some navy ones but they were not comfy.

Another vote for Camper. They are the comfiest shoes I've ever worn. Yes they are a bit more expensive but they are worth it. Quality is great and they last for ages

TeamStyle · 25/03/2009 22:55

Those look like kids shoes! Why dont you try brogues or loafers from Russell + Bromley. The patent ones aren't very comfortable though, but they all come in brown leather.

But really sneakers are the most comfortable thing you are going to find. If you like cutesy patterns, Nike has an amazing range...

purpleduck · 25/03/2009 22:59

I like them!
Go for it!
When you are 95 you will be happy that you wore shoes that YOU loved, rather than stifle your own style and listen to a bunch of faceless people permanantly attached to a computer.
Hell, half of us - in all honesty probably really don't use our feet enough anyways. So, put what you want on yours!!

smurfgirl · 25/03/2009 23:18

Extreme mirth at brouges.

I know they are tres fashion but not for me.

theDreadPiratePerArdua · 25/03/2009 23:28

Am I the only MNer hooked on walking barefoot?

TeamStyle · 25/03/2009 23:42

brogues only look cool with jeans otherwise you look like an old lady i must admit. but being young i can get away with them methinks. i love your phrase extreme mirth! hahaha!

HolyGuacamole · 25/03/2009 23:52

thedreadpirateperardua Tell me about barefoot then? They look interesting? I take it they're made for comfort? Are their heels comfy too? Website says a bit about being ethical but I kinda want to know about the comfort factor

(sorry for hijack OP)

theDreadPiratePerArdua · 26/03/2009 11:30

There is no heel! They have very thin soles made from puncture resistant stuff, so that you can feel everything going on under your feet - walking acoss gravel turns into a foot massage. It's an addictive experience!

The theory is that if you have thin flexible soles, your feet do the work that they're supposed to - you walk more naturally, take shorter steps, and apparently if you run in them it's better on your knees than the highly cushioned shock-absorbing running shoes, because you land on the right part of your foot. Or something like that.

You have to try a pair - they really do feel amazing. I have two pairs from last year - one canvas pump type, and a trainer type, and got some trainers for DH at christmas. Am now looking at the new styles and wondering if I can justify a new pair

HolyGuacamole · 26/03/2009 15:19

Thanks very much! I'm liking the sky blue nubuck, think I will give them a go

I quite like THESE heels but I wouldn't spend that amount of money on them unless I knew they were super comfy and would last for a good couple of summers
