Oops!

ahundredtimes · 04/03/2009 19:25

Puppy you are not making good use of the roll over image to zoom facility.

The cross-hatching will make you dizzy, you will not be able to deny the cross-hatching

PuppyMonkey · 04/03/2009 19:30

Course Jigsaw are probably only able to offer such amazing internet rollover zoom facilities because they charge so much for blardy horrible GREY/hatched skirts.

Jumbo Birdseye

Made me think of a giant with a grey beard.

southeastastra · 04/03/2009 19:37

i quite like it, very mad men, but pricey. maybe they'll be cheaper versions somewhere?

georgimama · 04/03/2009 19:55

If I were going to spend 250 quid on a top, frankly, it would be from Chloe, not Jigsaw.

But I'm not going to, because no matter how much money you have, I think that is crazy money for a little top.

hatwoman · 04/03/2009 19:58

have jigsaw just ratcheted their prices or what? I know they;ve never been cheap but last time I looked "pieces" were more like £50-60.

ahundredtimes · 04/03/2009 20:01

There you are hatwoman! Have you moved yet?

SueW · 04/03/2009 20:15

Their dresses are hideous and shapeless.

Agree that the OP skirt would be a doddle with a sewing machine.

It doesn't look so good when you see it on the model under 'Key Pieces'. Looks a bit shapeless tbh but the yellow cardi hmm

muffle · 04/03/2009 20:21

Totally agree with veryembarrassedmummy - I used to love jigsaw but now they have gone all weird and shapeless (and more expensive).

That skirt is horrible! Yes, close-up it's cross-hatched (though I can't see what's nice about that really) but from anything more than about 3 feet away it would look like the skirt version of some nasty cheapo grey marl tracky bottoms, which you had happened to have got caught in your knickers at the front. Bizarre!

ingles2 · 04/03/2009 20:35

first time I've looked at Jigsaw in ages and OMG!
It's got sooo expensive and sooo dull!
a toast wannabe but nowhere near as nice

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 04/03/2009 20:43

Have already explained implications of credit crunch to Jigsaw last week. Being very annoyed at buttons falling off a £65 shirt that I had worn for a whole hour, I wrote a stroppy email to their head office. I pointed out that in the current climate, "high end" high street stores needed to justify their prices or lose out to cheaper competitors. They replied asking me to state which colour shirt I had bought so they could send me some replacement buttons !!

kettlechip · 04/03/2009 20:43

Get thee to Kew, it's the same company just loads cheaper! I've actually seen the same stuff in there but with different labels on.

hatwoman · 04/03/2009 20:56

[waves to a hundredtimes - yep moved in Jan. so far so good. the dog is loving it. he has a girlfriend over the road. they adore walking together. well, running round madly fighting over the same stick. sometimes they get an end each and trot along side by side. dds are settling in well. they sometimes miss being at a bigger school but they love the new-found freedom of being able to call in at friend's houses to see if they want to play. and dh and I are enjoying it too - lots of running and cycling and fresh air.] sorry all - hi-jack over

hoxtonchick · 04/03/2009 22:08

sounds fab hatwoman .

y'see, i generally like the new shapeless jigsaw. but the prices are silly. in fact, i haven't even been in to look at spring stuff.

hatwoman · 04/03/2009 22:19

[sorry. hi-jacking again...HC! I haven't seen you around for eons. I didn;t think you were here anymore. How are things? weren;t you trying to engineer a similar move out of the smoke? or maybe you did...]

back to Jigsaw...well there isn;t one at St Pancras which is the only place I get to have a quick look at shops these days. that, combined with those apparent price hikes means I'll probably wean myself off it. After far too close a relationship over the last 10 years or so it's probably not a bad thing. dh has been known to sigh "not another knee length brown skirt" ).

BonsoirAnna · 05/03/2009 09:53

That skirt is really, really boring - save your money for something more interesting

TotalChaos · 05/03/2009 09:58

Don't like the skirt at all. It's just not nice enough or classic enough to be an investment buy.

JustCallMeGoat · 05/03/2009 16:33

at the daisy 'pieces'. prances off to look at kew

OP posts:
OhBling · 05/03/2009 16:40

And Jigsaw quality isn't good - it's not an investment piece. I've stopped shopping there. I bought a suit a while ago, had it hemmed (for which I paid £15) and the hem then fell down. I complained bitterly and they offered to pay the postage to send it to and from their office to be redone. I would have preferred a courier!

I like the skirt though.

Kew isn't THAT much cheaper though is it? I bought a lovely dress there the other day, in silk admittedly, but it was £100 - I don't regret it as I wore it for my legal wedding service and to another party already but it wasn't cheap.

Horton · 05/03/2009 19:13

Do you think Jigsaw quality has changed a lot? I have stuff from there that I bought in 1987 or so (yes, I am that old) which I'm still wearing, eg bright red Harris tweed coat, black straight-legged velvet trousers, linen shirts etc. I think the quality is excellent. The coat for instance cost me 125 quid but I have worn it every year since I bought it, at least a few times. But it's true that I've had stuff from there recently which was nowhere near as well made.

MrsSeanBean · 06/03/2009 08:59

Jigsaw is very underwhelming nowadays.

The Miami clutch bag is quite pretty I suppose, but totally impractical for my life now.

I noticed they don't do shoes on their website which is odd.

Nontoxic · 06/03/2009 09:07

I haven't looked at Jigsaw in ages - I got fed up with wading through sludgy-coloured, shapeless stuff.
That skirt looks like something out of one of those sewing magazines 'to make in a weekend.'
