My foundation has run out, I have tried to save money by buying a no7 one but it was no good. In the past I have bought benefit or chanel foundation.

I still need to save money so am looking if I can get it cheaper on ebay. What foundation can people with pale skin recomend?

And people who use chanel what shade are they, clair is to dark for me and I cant rememember the name of the shade I used.

The best I've ever found was Prescriptives but I usually try and save by buying a cheaper one, then end up disappointed. I'm currently using a pretty rubbish Max factor one.

twinsetandpearls · 28/02/2009 17:54

Yes I have used prescriptives in the past actually, will see if I can get a pale shade

There's a new one out by Revlon(?) it goes on white and then matches your tone.

I'm horribly pale and have given up wearing pale make up. I'm sick of people asking me if I feel ok . Tide marks all the way for me now.

I am trying to embrace my pale skin, I look pretty pale.

I always get the palest and just bought palest in chanel vitalumiere - couldnt use the other lumiere as not pale enough. For cheap and good I've used tesco Barbara Daly range.

janeite · 28/02/2009 17:58

How much is the Chanel?

I actually quite like my pale skin most of the time!

hercules1 · 28/02/2009 17:59

I cant remember - between 25 -30. I bought it after reading loads of recommendations on mumsnet for it.

janeite · 28/02/2009 18:00

Thanks. Too much right now then!

Prior to chanel I used benefit mineral foundation which was around 20 but I did have to get a powder brush to go with it as I didnt like the applicator it came with.

Podrick · 28/02/2009 18:05

I wear Chanel shade limpide (awful name) - it's lighter than clair

cocolepew · 28/02/2009 18:05

The new Maybelline liquid mineral foundation is lovely and has some very pale shades.

TBH I think trying to buy foundation you haven't tried over the internet is a bad idea - you'll never get the right shade. If you want to go down that route I would go to a department store or large boots, try a few at the counters and then try and buy the right colour online.

If you can't do that then instead I'd suggest shopping around the cheaper brands. Try Maybelline Dream Matt Mousse - my favourite in that pricerange. Can try in Boots/Superdrug.

Dragonfly74 · 28/02/2009 18:08

After buying several cheaper brands of foundation for my pale skin and never finding one I really liked, I decided to go to one of those counters in debenhams.

I decided on Estee Lauder double wear in "Bone" shade 17. Although its expensive at £22 its lasted much longer than any of the cheaper brands. And since buying it i've seen it cheaper on ebay so i'll be getting my next one from there.

Bourjois is made in the same factory as Chanel by the same company, its pretty good, pale shade abricot clair is the one i bought when I realised I'd left my Chanel one at home on a recent trip to the UK.
There honestly isn't much difference between the two

wotsthestory - can you recommend a good foudnation? I am using baby bottom butter (waitrose) which I love but it's not a good base for foundation.

hercules1 · 28/02/2009 18:20

sorry moisturiser

No, sorry, it is moisturiser I need. What do you mean by the baby butter thing? Good or bad?

LaTrucha · 28/02/2009 18:29

Max Factor. Only one I've ever beeb happy with and that includes having tried Clinique and prescriptives.

I can give you the exact one if you're interested.

No, not really. A bit greasy at the end of the day in the t area. I do really like baby bottom butter but dont like the feeling straight after putting it on or using before foundation.

I have used chanel before so am not buying blind, I think limpede was the one I had it rings a bell.

I used to buy it over the counter in boots in Manchester, but our boots here stocks Clarins I think.
