My foundation has run out, I have tried to save money by buying a no7 one but it was no good. In the past I have bought benefit or chanel foundation.

I still need to save money so am looking if I can get it cheaper on ebay. What foundation can people with pale skin recomend?

And people who use chanel what shade are they, clair is to dark for me and I cant rememember the name of the shade I used.

Yes had a look as I thought I could save money, but on ebay the only chanel shade they have is clair. I know that is too dark as I tried two samples and one was clair and it was too dark for me.

strnage that - who buys make up on the internet without being able to try it fisrt?

macherie · 28/02/2009 19:59

For colour matching Prescriptives is streets ahead of other brands, They have a huge variety of shades and can even make you a customised foundation.

I have very pale skin, and neither Chanels Limpide or Clair are right, I tried Prescriptives and it's the best colour match I've ever had.

twinsetandpearls · 28/02/2009 20:05

Dp will flip if I spend £30 on foundation.

I am very, very, pale and use Maybelline Mineral foundation ( the powder one), I think it is 9.99, and it seems to be on offer a lot.

smurfgirl · 28/02/2009 20:37

I am very very pale (my wedding makeup lady said I was her first client to need the palest Mac foundation) and I use middle range foundations and find them to be ok.

I am very pale and I use Max Factor colour adapt foundation in the palest shade.

I tried a bourjois (sp) one and that looked nice. I find Mabelline Dream Matt Mousse to be very cakey.

No.7 is very orangey for my skin.

L'Oreal do a vanilla shade thats a good colour match for me as well.

Apparently the Nicola foundation on ASOS is v.g.

southeastastra · 28/02/2009 20:39

if your skin is good more or less just use concealer.

twinsetandpearls · 28/02/2009 20:47

Yes I find No7 to be very orange. At the weekend I just use concealor and my benetnit cheek stain. But for work I ike foundation, infact I look quite shit without it

The Dainty doll range ( I think that it what the Nicola Roberts one is called) is supposed to be very pale.

I use MAC foundation - have extremely pale skin - my colour is NC15 I think. It's fantastic - I use the moisturising compact foundation and the studio fix liquid.

southeastastra · 28/02/2009 20:58

has anyone tried the ruby and millie paint on stuff?

twinsetandpearls · 28/02/2009 21:04

That one is for sale on ebay babbity.

No SEA but used to use ruby and milli cosmetics and liked them

Twinset - please tell me more about Benetint. have you tried Posytint too? How do you put it on? I am in need of a new blusher and was going to maybe try Origins "Pinch My Cheeks" but am always intrigued by Benetint. Does it feel sticky?

twinsetandpearls · 01/03/2009 11:23

Pinch my cheeks is supposed to be very good but I adore my benetint. I discovered it when pregnant and everyone commented on my glow. I look so much better with it on although you have to be careful if you use facepowder as it can go a but funny. It lasts ages as well so good value for money. I have not heard of posytint. You can also use it on your lips but the brush tickles.

How about Avon Mineral in Ivory, it is practically cream in shade. I have used mineral makeup for the last two years and wouldn't use 'wet' foundation again

twinsetandpearls · 01/03/2009 11:43

I have tried that already in a previous economising attempt and it is to yellowy for me. Have thought about mac minerals though

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 01/03/2009 11:44

It also makes my benetint go all wierd.

janeite - i am pretty pale (blonde hair blue eyes) and LOVE Posytint. It looks almost neon but blends in very easily, gives a lovely colour and lasts all day. I highly recommend it, and I have tried practically every blusher under the sun in an attempt to find one that stops me from looking half-dead.

janeite · 01/03/2009 20:36

Thanks re: the Benetint/Posytint comments. So how do you put it on then? Is it just like a cream blush? My problem is that I am so pale that even a tiny bit of blusher makes me look quite "overdone" - today I wore the teeniest hint of a v subtle Boots Natural Collection cheapo cream blusher in a muted pink and dp commented on how much make up I had on: it was literally a pin prick on each cheek.

Twinset - have you decided which foundation you're going to go for?

kitkat9 · 01/03/2009 20:52

it's not creamy, more like liquid you apply with a nail polish style brush.. you dab a couple of spots on and blend in, it's hard to cock it up. Very natural looking and easy to do.

See if you can test it on the back of your hand in the shop.

Honestly, I love the stuff. Worth the money, imo. I always get told how well I look when I wear it...even when I've only had 3 hour's sleep!
