I have bought "this www.johnlewis.com/22100/Product.aspx"
And "this www.johnlewis.com/22080/Product.aspx
She doesn't like the dress but wants to keep the cardigan, but I don't like any of the other clothes in the range from JL.
Has anyone seen anything funky but pretty in Purple please or an outfit (I am rubbish at putting things together).
Thank you

i think the dress is pretty.
can you convince her?
how old is she?

i have to find outfits for my two boys for a photo shoot next week too.

www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B001NN6UCU/sr=1-3/qid=1232826287/ref=sr_1_3/280-8784872-6056568?i e=UTF8&node=42966030&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=purple%20dress&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=&page=

That cardigan is lovely. I do prefer it to the dress.

Do you like the dress in the M&S link above?

sorrento · 24/01/2009 19:50

Dragon, she says it makes her look fat, aged 6 can you believe it ?
There is alot of material and it's quite loose fitting and slightly too big so I see where she's coming from.
Pamelat, I saw that one, it's venture photo's we're going for, should have said so I need something quite bold to stand out against the white backround and something a bit funkier I think.
It doesn't have to be a dress but skirts don't really suit her as she has a tummy.

ok, i'll have a look for you as i can't seem to find nice blue stuff for the boys that doesn't have loads of fussy patterns on it.

sorrento · 24/01/2009 20:04

Now John Lewis might be the answer for you dragon there were lots of nice shirts and long shorts type outfits in there today, I almost wished I could put DH in lol

fat face?

DragonLowFatSpread · 24/01/2009 20:05

or this hoodie with jeans?

nobodysfool · 24/01/2009 20:10

as a photographer i would def go with the jeans and pink fat face hoodie (as long as that was her normal style).
You will get the best shots out of her if she feels relaxed and comfy in her clothes.

seeker · 24/01/2009 20:11

'Dragon, she says it makes her look fat, aged 6 can you believe it ?'

None of my business of course - but do you think this might just be a reason to not do the photo shoot?

ProfRichardDawkins · 24/01/2009 20:16

I think that cardi is horrid and middle aged.

Is the photo going to be black & white?

What colour hair and colouring does she have?

sorrento · 24/01/2009 20:19

She's very blonde and pale, not albino white hair but that lovely sunshine natural highlights type.
She loves purple, her absolute favourite colour and given a choice she's more monsoon than boden.
Unfortunately my kids hate absolutely everything they do until they get there then they have a great time, so I'm pulling my hair out, they are crying right up until the car pulls up usually.

OP posts:
sorrento · 24/01/2009 20:19

Sorry I guess I have a choice colour or black and white.

ProfRichardDawkins · 24/01/2009 20:22

Would she look nice in some old jeans and a fairy outfit over, complete with wings? Or some jeans and a cashmere ballet wrap in a lovely deep purple?

DragonLowFatSpread · 24/01/2009 20:23

i think the pink hoodie would look fab with her hair.
do you have time to take her shopping?

i'll be back later.

ProfRichardDawkins · 24/01/2009 20:29

I don't like hoodies.

sorrento · 24/01/2009 20:31

She actually hasn't got any jeans, as I said bit of a tummy so I avoid them and hoodies, I don't know it just wasn't the look I was after I guess.

stardazzle · 24/01/2009 20:39

what about this

ProfRichardDawkins · 24/01/2009 20:41

If you have a look at the Venture website gallery, it's not really about the clothes. Best to dress her in something comfortable so that she feels relaxed. Just dress her in something that she normally wears and looks like 'her'.

seeker · 24/01/2009 21:50

"It doesn't have to be a dress but skirts don't really suit her as she has a tummy" Of course she does - she's 6 years old!

sorrento · 24/01/2009 21:52

Skirts aren't comfortable when you have a tummy seeker.

OP posts:
beanieb · 24/01/2009 21:56

What do you mean by she has a tummy? We all have a tummy

plonker · 24/01/2009 21:59

What does your dd normally wear sorrento?

I find it incredibly sad that she is, at the tender age of 6, saying that certain clothes make her look fat

I'm finding the whole "she says it makes her look fat, aged 6 can you believe it ?" and "tummy" thing really rather worrying TBH.
