My lovely brother bought me a bottle of Chanel No 5 for Christmas. ONly problem is...

I hate it. It smells of old lady wardrobes. But I've opened it now (as I didn't know what it smelled like) and can't swap it anywhere..

It's a 50ml bottle too, he must have spent a fortune (a fortune for our family anyway) but I really cannot bring myself to wear it. It smells like Zoflora.

I feel really bad!

I'd go with the post by chocbutton, try it again, let the smell develop.

Also, scent can smell different at different times of the month, to do with how you are, ifswim.

If you still don't like it, just make it into a shrine, like you said, at least you've got a generous b!

How about a swop?! I have got Paul Smith Extreme Body Lotion plus a cashmere blend calvin klein red hat. gloves and scarf??!!

It tastes nice if you lick it off your wrists....or at least did when we were 14 and tried that as a way to get pissed (cos of alcohol content) at school

A fab auntie (who still buys for me although she was supposed to stop when I was 21, as is custom - and she still buys for my kids ... and the whole family is NOT well off, but then generous people are often skint) has bought me a bottle of Christian Lacroix Tumulte. I have never heard of it, it's rich, sticky, syrupy smelling perfume.

I love it.

Must admit I got some donated to me and in the circumstances didn't feel I could refuse. I didn't like the smell but one day in desperation (had run out all my other perfume) I wore it for the day. Strangely got loads of compliments!!!!

Have worn it occasionally since (to 'use it up') and the same thing has happened! Thing is whne you wear it you can't smell it!!!

does anyone still have that perfume which was very big in the late 80s - LouLou ? it was in a blue bottle and smelt AWFUL!!!!

I have never worn chanel purfumes (found them too flowry etc) but dh was in london before christmas and was next to a bunch of women buying chanel No 5...preview one (he insisted that if they wore it I would love it ).

Well im hooked . He was shocked when I told him my mum wore chanel no5 when I was a kid...she wore the old version..dh bought me the new one..Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
