and on a lot of photos we hve got shes in what i class as the not so nice clothes.

for example today shes been wearing a grey plain long sleeved tshirt with jeans.
the t shirts came in a pack of 4 from next and i didnt like the grey one but, it came as part if the pack.

and today ive realised i keep putting her in it all the time as i think oh ill save the other clothes for best and she doesnt wear the nice stuff half as often

lol I did exactly that, and still do most of the time, its ridiculous because then you find dressed and things that are almost too small and have never or hardly been worn!

HeinzSight · 12/12/2008 12:44

LOL

themoon66 · 12/12/2008 12:44

I do that too... but to myself.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 12:45

I do this with dd when she goes to nursery, as they don't take care of their clothes and they all get ruined. Although all her clothes are lovely, just some more than others. I've learned my lesson a little now though, when I found myself packing away beautiful summer clothes that had never been worn as I was saving them for some unknown occasion.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 12:45

Not that I'm suggesting nursery should be taking care of her clothes, btw!

bettybeetroot · 12/12/2008 12:49

i have never understood the clothes for best thing. i only buy clothes i like for dd and don't worry about things getting ruined - most stuff comes out in the wash.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 12:50

I have to completely disagree with that, betty. Maybe I should send my washing to you! Are you local?

bettybeetroot · 12/12/2008 12:53

lol - down in devon! i'm just not 'precious' about things. probably should be the amount i spend on dc's though!

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 12/12/2008 12:55

I can't see the point of keeping stuff "for best" either. BabyDragon has clothes for nursery and clothes for other times but that's as far as it goes.

She got chocolate icecream on the front of her Boden summer dress the very first time she wore it. Did it come out? No. Did I care? No.

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 12:55

i think dd looks like a baby prisioner! in that long sleeved plain grey t shirt but i keep putting her in it.
we joke here comes baby prisioner number 232

i think next time i buy a pack and theres a top i dont like i might hide it one one of the drawers

I never do that. My dd wears her lovely things all the time. They grow too fast to ration clothes. And everything is washable. There seems to be some strange belief that if a girl is wearing a pink frilly frock instead of jeans and stained t-shirt she can't enjoy herelf. My daughter would like to disagree with that one!

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 12:57

so betty and dragon, what do you do ? put them in any clothes anytime?

dragon why does baby dragon have seperate clothes for nursery?

OP posts:
littleducks · 12/12/2008 12:57

i dont know what the solution is though, if i put dd is nice clothes they are ruined and then an unbeknown occassion will arrive and she has no nice clothes

lucykate · 12/12/2008 13:00

once they start school, i found the saving things for best thing goes out the window. as dd is in uniform most of the time, her wardrobe is a lot smaller than it used to be, so i do tend to dress her in the nice stuff when she's at home.

lucykate · 12/12/2008 13:01

dd used to have a set of clothes for nursery too, they had some paint there that didn't wash out.

bettybeetroot · 12/12/2008 13:03

yes, pretty much any clothes any time. i should point out that for occasions such as parties i wouldn't dress her in satin/frilly type dresses as i just don't like that look. i buy her dresses that can be worn anytime. if clothes get ruined i'm with christmasdragon - i don't care. they are clothes!

flowerytaleofNewYork · 12/12/2008 13:03

I used to do that. DS has several shirts and some nice tank tops. I used to just always put him in t shirts to avoid doing the ironing so often.

Now we have a nanny and she does his clothes, so I don't worry about increasing ironing pile and put him in shirts often.

devoutsceptic · 12/12/2008 13:05

My dd went to nursery this morning in a Monsoon pinafore, viyella floral shirt and Zara pink cardigan. She sometimes wears a cashmere cardigan to nursery! (£20, very warm and this is its second winter and still going strong). I think I am setting myself up for some serious problems when she is a teenager
I let her wear party dresses to the park.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 13:14

Now you see, I do care when clothes get ruined. Not that I spend a great deal on her clothes, usually Next or wherever, but I do care when they get ruined. I wouldn't go to work with a stained top on, and I wouldn't put dd in a stained top. It infuriates me when people (read: nursery and my mum) don't put a bib on her whilst she is eating, and I find stains really difficult to get out.

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 13:17

pinkjenny my dh does that forget to put a bib on her.
funny that he never does her washing though isnt it.
maybe he would forget so easily then

OP posts:
Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 13:20

My dh never does any washing either. Actually, tell a lie, he does, but just his own stuff. It INFURIATES me.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 13:21

Apparently I am 'infuriated' quite a lot.

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 13:23

lol

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 12/12/2008 13:23

but it's rare that clothes get totally ruined if you know you're laundry products . unless they are ripped, pretty much any stain CAN be got out.

put the nice stuff on her!

i do!

my girls wear their dresses and tights and nice stuff even to nursery.

i dress our son up in a proper outfit every day even if we're not going out except to drop off the girls or if we're just going for a walk to the village shop.

try it!

it'll put a smile on both your faces.

get some of that Vanish pre-treat stain spray in a pink bottle first and some biological washing powder and liquid for the tougher stains.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 13:24

I use Fairy Non-Bio, which is pants imo. Will try the Vanish though, ta!
