and on a lot of photos we hve got shes in what i class as the not so nice clothes.

for example today shes been wearing a grey plain long sleeved tshirt with jeans.
the t shirts came in a pack of 4 from next and i didnt like the grey one but, it came as part if the pack.

and today ive realised i keep putting her in it all the time as i think oh ill save the other clothes for best and she doesnt wear the nice stuff half as often

a bio washing powder or liquid is good to keep for stains. even at 40, it'll get teh stains out better.

also hanging the clothes outside on the line facing the sun after washing.

even if it just fades the stain, the next time you wash it it will generally come out.

the other thing is washing soda crystals.

if you have a heavily soiled load, do bio powder but substitute in a couple of scoops of washing soda crystals for the powder.

pre-treat the stain, then wash.

I always put DS in whatever clothes are appropriate for that day (ie activity/temperatute etc) rather than saving anything for best. He is very young, growing fast and I want to get maximum wear out of his clothes. In fact he wears his "best" clothes the most because they were more expensive and I want value for money on a pay per wear basis!

handbagqueen · 12/12/2008 13:33

I dress DD2 in lovely clothes all the time - she is a bottom shuffler so you can imagine the state of them after being at playgroup, and she refuses bibs at meal times and insists on self feeding. I have found if you soak the really badly stained items in Vanish powder as soon as possible the stains always come out (including curry). I don't like her being dirty or in anything stained so she does get changed 2-3 times a day.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 13:40

2-3 times a day? Blimmin heck.

expatinscotland · 12/12/2008 13:41

i just change mine the once, from their jimjams to their clothes.

and back again into jimjams for night.

but i've got 3 of 'em to get ready.

MrsSeanBean · 12/12/2008 14:05

Yeash I know what you mean OP. But it's madness. I used to do this for myself but eventually abandoned the practice. Even more silly for dcs as they will grow out of stuff before wearing half a dozen times.

'Buy it, wear it, ruin it' is now my motto.

misdee · 12/12/2008 14:14

dd3 also has 'nursey' clothes and weekend clothes. most of her nurseystuff is lovely but more practical for scrabbling up climbing frames, puddle jumping etc. lots of leggings, baggies and stuff that can be layered easily. weekends are more dresses and skirts.

dd1+2 live in uniforms during the week, then weekends are their 'funky'clothes.

pgwithnumber3 · 12/12/2008 14:14

I only buy stuff I really really like and put DD2 in them hence she always looks gorgeous! I don't buy tonnes of crap just around 4/5 good outfits (Catamini, Monsoon etc) that wash really well (only ever on a 30 degree wash) and then some nice little bits from M&S etc (don't really like Next).

Put her in all the pretty stuff now Songbird, you will regret it if you don't! Wait until all she wants to wear is tat. I couldn't get DD1 in anything decent from the age of 3 onwards. Only Dora Explorer t-shirts and shorts.

pgwithnumber3 · 12/12/2008 14:15

Pinkjenny - I always wash with a scoop of Vanish, only thing that gets stains out.

Anna8888 · 12/12/2008 14:16

Only have clothes you like. It's the only way.

Anna8888 · 12/12/2008 14:18

I'm like MrsSeanBean - I buy a few clothes I really like for me (and DD), wear them to bits, and then throw them out and buy new ones. And I love not having to wear the same things year in year out.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 14:18

Will try that - ta.

WewishyouaBUMPERLICIOUS · 12/12/2008 14:20

I can top this, MIL just bought DD a lovely new bib here - the 'floral cream one and everytime I give to DD to put on her he says "No, the bolognaise/curry/etc. is too messy, I don't want her to ruin it" What a ponce!

I christened it today though while he is at work!

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 14:23

ok well shall i actually bin that grey t shirt then or just hid it?

i doubt any one would buy it, although i could put it in the sally army clothes bank.

Is there really something wrong with the grey t-shirt, or is it just that wearing it with jeans is very, very boring?

My DD wear a grey t-shirt under a white-and-grey flowered tunic top with green cords and looks so sweet

pgwithnumber3 · 12/12/2008 14:29

Songbird - your poor DD in her plain grey t-shirt. You wicked mother you. A girl should look like a little girl. I don't put jeans on mine until they are around 3 and then I only put them on with a pretty smocked top. Also only ever put pale pink or white on a new baby, never bright colours. I have strange ways.

MrsSeanBean · 12/12/2008 14:31

Ooh yes, love smocking. Sadly a bit more difficult to get hold of it for a boy. But I love him in his little peter pan collars and button on shorts.
Cartoon clothes - bleuurghhhh!

MrsSeanBean · 12/12/2008 14:31

Hi Anna btw

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 14:33

I think my 19mo dd looks adorable in jeans.

Anna8888 · 12/12/2008 14:33

Lots of smocking (even for boys) in Paris . I bought my sister's first child, a DS, two size 1-month white smocked and frilled shirts that all the babies in the family wore in turn .

MrsSeanBean · 12/12/2008 14:35

I love you Anna! Just the excuse I need for a little excursion to the 7e arondissement? Non?

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 14:36

well she looks like a baby prisioner in it.
so its pretty bad.

well i brought the pack of 4 as i wanted the pink and white ones to go under other stuff.

pg don't make me feel even worse!
poor little dd

Sadly I don't live in the 7th (or even better the 6th) but in the 17th. But pretty good shopping in the rue de Courcelles and I go all over . Do you need some addresses?
