and on a lot of photos we hve got shes in what i class as the not so nice clothes.

for example today shes been wearing a grey plain long sleeved tshirt with jeans.
the t shirts came in a pack of 4 from next and i didnt like the grey one but, it came as part if the pack.

and today ive realised i keep putting her in it all the time as i think oh ill save the other clothes for best and she doesnt wear the nice stuff half as often

Anna, yes please, pretty please! Websites even better. Ta so much

misdee · 12/12/2008 15:12

plain long sleeved tops go under tunic tops, tank tops and other no-sleeved garments IMO. even dd3 summer dresses are getting worn through winter with lots of layering anf funky tights.

pgwithnumber3 · 12/12/2008 15:16

pinkjenny - each to your own and all that! DD1 did not suit them, she would have looked like a boy so it put me off them. However I will put DD2 in some come the summer as they are great for playing out in.

songbird - DD2 has things like this dress and these knickerbockers with this top. I am lucky in that my SIL works for Accessorize so if she has enough discount, I get 50% off!

She has this coat which I bought with birthday money she got. I don't spend a fortune on everything but I would rather spend £200 on 5 outfits and a good coat than the same amount on 20 iyswim!

pgwithnumber3 · 12/12/2008 15:17

Also everything I buy now will get passed down to DD3 so it makes sense to spend a bit more.

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:18

pgwithnumber3 - do you know Martin Parr?

Pinkjennybellrock · 12/12/2008 15:23

You look really familiar. You are completely gorgeous by the way.

lizandlulu · 12/12/2008 15:29

i have not read all the thread cause i am at work, but iam like this, i have a ralph lauren cardi for dd, bought about 8 months ago for £35, kept for best. i put it on her on tuesday cause i have had enough of leaving her stuff in the wardrobe, and it is too small

i am liek it with my own clothes too, and make up. people will say, 'arnt you wearing that new top?' and i will say 'no its too new!'

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 12/12/2008 15:51

"dragon why does baby dragon have separate clothes for nursery"

Because they do loads of messy stuff like painting/sticking. Paint and glue can be a b*gger to get out and if she's painting etc at home, I strip her! Can't expect that at nursery. Mind you, I'm not overly bothered about it. If I can't find the nursery clothes she wears anything - it's only clothing after all.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 12/12/2008 15:52

nursery clothes tend to be easy to get on/off - pull up trousers etc. At home she can wear dresses/tights or trousers with buttons.

Anna8888 · 12/12/2008 16:09

MrsSeanBean - I'm not great on websites for children's clothes (no need, really, with all these shops around me ) but you can try:

Jacadi

Little Fashion Gallery

BonTon

Maloup

Victor et Moi

If you are coming shopping here, don't miss the Bonpoint concept store (flagship really) on rue de Tournon. And any good Monoprix has quite an inspired range of French-style classic baby/child clothes at knock-down prices. Otherwise Le Bon Marché has all the best brands - ultra classic to super modern.

WinkyWinkola · 12/12/2008 16:12

I don't really believe in saving for best. Best is so far and few between. If best crops up, then I'll buy something just for that.

I put DD and DS in their nice stuff every day just because! And their clothes do get trashed but they get used. I can't bear the thought of good stuff sitting in the cupboard not being used.

georgimama · 12/12/2008 17:10

MrsSeanBean - have you seen D'Arcy Brown? They're not French but their stuff is seriously gorgeous this is where I get a lot of DS clothes from and they're too expensive to keep for best!!

pinkjenny - his name rings a bell, I can't think why. Thank you for the compliment but honestly, in the flesh I am haggard now. Too many kids...

Anna888 - so jealous at all the beautiful french clothes.

Songbird, have you binned the grey top yet?

Georgimama, you should not have shown me that website.

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 19:43

liz and lulu
that made me really sad.
wanna make a pact to stop doing this?
i will check in on you tomorrow to find out what you and the dcs are wearing.

well when i got dd up from her nap, i dressed her in some nice clothes.
and she was runnign around smiling i think she likes being dressed up.

ALovelySongbirdInaPearTree · 12/12/2008 19:44

OP posts:
pgwithnumber3 · 12/12/2008 20:27

I am online now, you have my new email address don't you? [email protected]

I don't always get the 50% but if she hasn't used all her discount up she will let me have it.

DD1 had a lovely pale pink spotted knitted dress on today with pale pink tights and pale gold mary janes. I love seeing her look pretty and even at 15 months, she loves her clothes! Go on, have some fun with your DD's clothes, as I said, you will have no say soon enough.

MrsSeanBean · 12/12/2008 21:31

Thanks Anna and georgiamama, will investigate! x
