do you try and get your dds shoes to match her clothes? its really hard with dd in her sensible clark shoe, put something nice on, and the shoes ruin it

so what do you do with your dd? do you have several pairs of shoes?

i always think oh dd should wear sensible shoes, but they look so clumpy

How old is your DD? Personally, I don't really worry about it (mine is two).

PandaG · 25/11/2008 19:21

we have sensible shoes for everyday, and a pair of cheap sparkly party shoes when wearing pretty stuff for parties and the like.

TheFallenMadonna · 25/11/2008 19:23

God no! How many shoes would that be? I like clumpy shoes on little girls really. DD has a pair of ankle boots and I think they look smashing with most things. She does have a pair of sequinned pump things from Monsoon for parties.

morningpaper · 25/11/2008 19:25

naaaah she'll start nagging you about it soon enough, may as well delya that time as long as possible

onebatmother · 25/11/2008 19:26

erm... pom d'api boots/shoes.

needmorecoffee · 25/11/2008 19:27

dd1 had one pair of shoes and one pair of wellies. Who needs more. dd2 is 4 and has no shoes cos she can't walk so not wasting money.

fruitful · 25/11/2008 19:29

Dd is 6. She currently has start-rite black sensible shoes, sparkly pink trainers, and purple suede boots. And wellies. This seems to cover most things.

The boots were a present though - school shoes/pink trainers were working quite nicely before.

It's so much easier with boys - ds1 would wear the same outfit every day if he could.

lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 25/11/2008 20:17

sorry right just got bh from bathing dd and putting her to bed

she is 17months

the shoes look fine with toussers jean but look very clumpy with dresses and skirts

Depends on what you mean by sensible shoes - I would not and have not ever put my dd's in school type shoes with trousers it looks terrible. My dd's have schools shoes, wellies, trainers (dd1 has two pairs), jazz shoes, boots, party shoes, sandles & flip flops (in summer).

I wouldn't wear the same shoes with every outfit, why should they?

cat how old is your dd?

EachPeachPearMum · 25/11/2008 20:27

It's true- my DD (2.10) has some lovely outfits, in many different colours... and then she has her navy blue start-rites.
Well, and wellies, but they're not really for co-ordinating.
It's easier in summer when she can have sandals in a different colour too.
Their feet grow so quickly though, I am not forking out on 2 or more pairs of £40 shoes every 8 weeks or so.

That said, I would rather she had non-matching shoes now and perfectly formed feet when she is older.

Hulababy · 25/11/2008 20:31

6y DD has sensible school shoes (black), some long brown boots, some reddy coloured party shoes plus some summer ones that are not in use now. We try and get party shoes to match the party outfits, but not for every day stuff.

No, not different shoes for each outfit. My dd's are 6 and 9 and no, they didn't just have shoes and wellies when they were toddlers. I just don't like the idea of them only having one pair of shoes I think about their poor sweaty feet. It's a personal choice.

fruitymum · 25/11/2008 20:42

DD aged 2 1/2 has; wellies, 2 pairs of slippers, trainers(almost too small) , doodles from summer, sandals ok in house but too small for outside, winter boots, and just bought a pair of shiny party shoes and day to day shoes. Yes she has lots but that is one of the reasons I went back to work!

Miyazaki · 25/11/2008 20:44

yes the older has lots - uggs, trainers, vans, converse, wellies. and then the smaller one has less - littlies feet grow quickers. So she has wellies and ankle type boots, think that is it.

my eldest used to love wearing her school shoes with normal clothes which used to make me twitch. Funny how they'll find the thing that winds you up...

lulumama · 25/11/2008 20:44

we have many, many shoes for DD. we get discount at fab local independent shoe shop.

just got some pink patent boots for DD, with a pink suede fold over bit at the top

if i told yuo how many pairs of shoes and boots she had, you would go

Miyazaki · 25/11/2008 20:45

one bat - I love those pom d'api numbers. gulp. hide the receipts...

Fillyjonk · 25/11/2008 20:46

realy really not, no

she has one pair of shoes, a pair of pink gore tex trainers from the clarks sale. She usually wears them to parties though more often she wears wellies .

Habbibu · 25/11/2008 20:48

Onebat and miyazaki - you ponces! £80 for toddler shoes

Habbibu · 25/11/2008 20:49

lovelysongbird - dd has those shoes. She'll grow out of them way too fast to buy more. And they're good for winter.

PerkinWarbeck · 25/11/2008 20:50

my DD is 20mo, and has good ole' navy blue start-rites, red wellies, and slippers. When the growth of her feet starts to slow down, then I might stretch to a couple of pairs, but until then it seems madness to have more.

Tommy · 25/11/2008 20:51

am I glad I just have DSs?

They have school shoes and trainers. They wear the trainers at the weekend unless we are going somewhere "smart" (very rare!) then they wear their school shoes.

At 17m I really shouldn't worry about it
