What's your favourite Mascara??

I'm sick of wasting money on rubbish mascaras. I need a new one this weekend, one that isn't cloggy, not too heavy, (but can be built up in layers for when I'm feeling dramatic) and makes my eyelashes look lustrous, silky and gorgeous. Oh, and won't dry out in the bottle after a couple of weeks (and no, I never pump the wand rapidly thereby introducing drying air bubbles into the bottle). Would love to discover a fab one that's not too expensive. Although will think about an expensive one if needs be.

Thanks!!

Franch, I had something to send you (can't remember what but it will come back to me, see, memory goes when you're 41), can't find your email, email me?

Think it was about childcare.

motherinferior · 09/03/2005 20:19

No, it was about private birth.

LGJ · 09/03/2005 20:19

Clarins

charleypops · 09/03/2005 20:21

Anchovies - The Rimmel one I have right now - Endless Length and Lift straightens my lashes - says on the "tube" it's supposed to curl them (blobs and dries them though). it was an emergency buy from Tesco.

IT SMUDGES

katierocket · 09/03/2005 20:28

smudging is the biggest problem with most mascaras IMO but perhaps I my eyelashes are more prone to smudging. Yeah, that would be right - substandard eyelashes

hatsoff · 09/03/2005 20:41

I have tried tonnes of different and mostly expensive ones - my main criteria being NO CLUMPING, goes on nice and wet iyswim. I have struggled to find a good expensive one so I started buying cheap ones and have discovered - to my delight - that Rimmel is the best - just it's basic one in a brown tube (can't remember the name)

treacletart · 09/03/2005 20:44

I've never got on with mascaras - always end up looking like a knacekred panda. Now I die my eyelashes, so my favourite mascara is... Coloursport 30 day mascara in dark brown
Its very easy to use and gives surprisingly natural but effective results. Team it with a pair of eyelash curlers and your totally sorted IMO.

treacletart · 09/03/2005 20:46

and of course its very cheap, time saving,clump-free and smudge-free too!

charleypops · 10/03/2005 15:28

No one tried the Helena Reubenstein one?

bad gal lash by benefit is fab

bundle · 10/03/2005 15:31

but spacedonkey is it "fat"? or long?

spacedonkey · 10/03/2005 15:33

both, but it doesn't clog at all

lancome mascara is very good too, extencils is good if you want long but not fat

bundle · 10/03/2005 15:33

thanks spacedonkey, it sounds lovely.

bundle · 10/03/2005 15:35

from yorkshire divers' website:

I use Lancome's Extencils, which I think is waterproof, because it doesn't come off when I do aqua aerobics (dive fitness is important y'know) or go swimming. And it doesn't need special stuff to take it off, normal makeup remover will do.

Who said that being girly and diving don't go together ?

Bugsy2 · 10/03/2005 15:43

Max Factor STRETCH - Classic Look is pretty good. Not too smudgy, goes on fairly well, not clumpy. Only criticism is that the brush is too chunky.

pinotgrigio · 10/03/2005 15:50

I vote for Bad Gal Lash by Benefit too.

Marina · 10/03/2005 15:53

Phew, I thought it was just me who had issues with that poxy Maybelline "best-seller". Magnificils or Extencils for me, I really think Lancome do the best. Like the sound of Spacedonkey's recommendation, though...only a Naughty Ass could have a raunchy mascara!

purpleturtle · 10/03/2005 15:54

Another vote for Lancome - I use flextencils. They're not cheap, but I love them.

Pinotmum · 10/03/2005 15:55

Lancome 1st, Clinique 2nd

Kayleigh · 10/03/2005 15:56

I use clinique pretty lashes. It doesn't clog and it lengthens. And it doesn't irritate my eyes.

expatinscotland · 10/03/2005 15:56

The Clinique stuff in a silver tube.

bundle · 10/03/2005 15:56

is flextencils like extencils only flexi?
