jooseyfruit · 20/10/2008 14:56

not that one, the principles one is much nicer

scaryfucker · 20/10/2008 14:58

jumbo cord ?

nooooooo, not for big hips/bum

I think I will step away from this thread now, as pushchair and I obviously have differing fashion views

pushchair · 20/10/2008 14:59

ditto?
too long?

OP posts:
pushchair · 20/10/2008 15:00

see scaryfucker as nothing of the kind now and in fact girly fluttery type

OP posts:
scaryfucker · 20/10/2008 15:02

not scary at all

that next biker chic skirt is bloody scary though

puppydavies · 20/10/2008 15:07

are you in your 20s pc? whilst i don't hold with all the "rules" being bandied about (cord? fine. pencil skirts with hips/arse? perfect!) i have to say i consider myself (early 30s - just!) too old for rara skirts. how about this one?

puppydavies · 20/10/2008 15:08

may be a bit long?

puppydavies · 20/10/2008 15:10

sorry last one dry clean

i've been wondering about all these tulip shaped skirts - i had one years and years ago and surprisingly it was incredibly flattering (am pear shape) how about this - says it's green, looks black to me

pushchair · 20/10/2008 15:18

Puppy I'm in my 40's!
1st one -zips! aargh
2nd-hmmm maybe
3rd- yeah looks good, maybe the fabric a bit cheapy looking?

OP posts:
puppydavies · 20/10/2008 15:22

i lurve it tbh, warehouse usually good quality even if looks cheap ;)

pushchair · 20/10/2008 16:39

Just looked at that one again and it has no back vent could be a bugger to walk in!

OP posts:
puppydavies · 20/10/2008 18:28

has split at front i think.

soyabean · 20/10/2008 19:58

I just got a nice black cord skirt from H&M. They have grey too. Couple of inches above knee on me; I am 5'8. £14 I think, v reasonable anyway.

pushchair · 20/10/2008 20:00

Hmmm may have to go into London. No Primark and no H&M near me.

OP posts:
scaryfucker · 20/10/2008 20:54

do you have a link soya ?

cloudberry · 20/10/2008 22:30

How about these. I have the dark grey, the wine and brown and they're great. I wanted straightish and to the knee as I really don't like a line or flared etc etc and I'm really pleased with them. Look great with boots.

pushchair · 20/10/2008 22:38

No dark grey in a 10. Shame cos I would have had one.

OP posts:
My2Monkeys · 21/10/2008 09:18

I definitely feel too old (37) for the flared, rara type skirts even though I have pretty good, long legs. I also agree with the poster that said that they emphasise the hips. Definitely pencil for me!

I don't much like the velvet one in your first post, a bit shapeless, but - call me frumpy, but I like the alternative one that Boden suggest! In fact, I may order it myself (in grey).

pushchair · 21/10/2008 11:46

Yes I liked the boden tweed one but somehow the jump from £45-£49 stopped me. Twould be uumm £44 with discount I guess. £40 sounds much better to me. Any other discounts out there?

OP posts:
pushchair · 21/10/2008 17:04

Any more out there as I havent actually found one to buy yet?

OP posts:
Millie1 · 21/10/2008 21:07

I've got the Boden black velvet skirt in the original post ... frumpy or not ! And it's nice on!

Pushchair, I know you said you want black but have you checked out Hobbs? Have a look at their website - they have a lovely denim skirt, above the knee with button detail at the waist.

BTW ... anyone have any opinions on what sort of tights to wear with the Boden velvet skirt ... really thick opaques or the usual 20/30d opaques? Fancy the thicker ones but not sure whether I'll look stupid!

pushchair · 21/10/2008 22:02

I would go thick with the boden skirt. I might have bought that one but it was out of stock in my size.

OP posts:
MumRum · 26/10/2008 17:10

don't you find the boden one looks a little square... as in shapeless....
but then what do I know... Maybe I am square

soyabean · 26/10/2008 20:24

sorry only just got back on here - scary H&M website rubbish, so can't link, but the skirt is in black, grey, red, has a cord belt too but a bit lumpy so I took it off. Wore the skirt for first time on Friday with grey wooly tights and black DM boots, think it looked OK!
