I never wear them.Too structured for me,plus need ironing!
I prefer cotton tees or jersey tops/vests with cardigans.

I love them. Have slim tailored ones for smart mode, wear nothing underneath. Love soft flannel ones worn with jeans, sometimes with strappy t-shirt under. Very "I'm going to clean the pool house" arf Also love thick linen shirts.
All a bugger to iron as generally don't iron, so do as many as poss in one go watching old films. You can't beat the tailoring imo. Sometimes T-shirts aren't enough.

janeite · 29/09/2008 18:24

I have been looking for a couple to wear under tank tops. I also have the dreaded nork issue. Also I don't much like the feel of shirts next to my skin, so thought I'd try and get a few silk ones. Unfortunately the only ones I've found seem to have either a) a silly bow at the neck (not a good look for those with chests) or b) hugely long Neanderthal sleeves.

NotCod · 29/09/2008 18:25

that soft floppy on in white stuff may suit you
i love the feel of htem
i think a collar is flattering

finknottle · 29/09/2008 18:27

collars def flattering.
also for the wider shouldered (qui moi?)
a good shirt slims you right down.
vastly underrated imo

Anna8888 · 29/09/2008 18:30

No.

I don't look good in shirts (ie man-cut type) - my shoulders are too broad and I'm too bony. I need something more feminine.

solidgoldbrass · 29/09/2008 18:33

I wear lots of shirts as my dad and brother pass theirs on to me, so its a mix of lumberjack shirts, the occasianal frilly-fronted evening one and one or two silk ones bought from charity shops. Last year I got a couple of nice vintage ones as well. SOmetimes I wear them unbuttoned over a t-shirt (which is useful when going from a location where it's perfectly OK to have one's wanking nun t-shirt on display to one where it, er, isn't and vice versa) sometimes buttoned up but never tucked into trousers. Now and again if I can be arsed I will put on a belt over a baggy shirt but that tends to give me wind.

skidoodle · 29/09/2008 18:35

dexter don't know if it's my screen, my eyes or their photography but I can't seem to make any sense of that shirt. From the pictures I just get no idea of what it would look like in real life.

LOL @ monkey arms my DH has those

skidoodle · 29/09/2008 18:39

solidgoldbrass - I'm impressed. There is no way I could trust myself not to somehow reveal my potentially offensive t-shirt.

Inevitably it would get hot when I was visiting the convent school...

dexter73 · 29/09/2008 18:44

skidoodle - I know what you mean! I didn't even realise it was the same shirt when I first saw it on the website.
This thread has made me want to wear all my shirts now! I think I will wear a blue/white stripy one tomorrow with a denim skirt.

ahundredtimes · 29/09/2008 18:47

Yes, I wear shirts a lot. I need the structure.

I favour sharp collars and big, showing off cuffs. I tend to wear under tank tops.

ahundredtimes · 29/09/2008 18:48

I don't do soft and floaty ones though. I do sharp shirts

janeite · 29/09/2008 18:51

Can't see a soft floppy one, Cod. Where please?

NotCod · 29/09/2008 18:56

I like the buttons - but not the fabric. Need something that sort of shape but in silk, or a silk cotton mix.

NotCod · 29/09/2008 19:00

Nope - am lost now.

You know that M&S one with the frilly bits that is all soft and gorgeous? I want that but with long sleeves.

binkythebullet · 29/09/2008 19:04

I wear shirts to work a LOT. I buy mine from T.M.Lewin - far cheaper than Pinks and just as good IMO. I love cufflinks. I love tank tops.

NotCod · 29/09/2008 19:05

what frillyl one?
