Its not expensive at all, in fact very reasonable, but I would never put a boy of mine in that, but then I wouldnt put either of my girls in it either, think I just hate ponchos!

nappyaddict · 20/09/2008 18:04

ponchos orginate from south america where you would probably find more men wearing them than women. south american men have been wearing them for years. i'm sure they wouldn't think they are girly.

i've seen blokes wearing them in films and stuff and so did president bush i think. oh and david beckham had one but i'm not sure that counts

it's a shame our society does think they are girly and if ds decided he didn't want to wear one incase he got teased that would be fine by me.

perhaps your 2 year olds are fashion conscious but i have never met a fashion conscious 2 year old before. in fact most 2 year olds i know, if asked what they want to wear will choose the most outrageous, mismatched outfit ever.

Sorry, I think it screams' Church fete old ladies knitting stall'

But I'm sure he will look nice and jolly in it.

FlightAttendent · 20/09/2008 18:30

I love it!

Why are some people having a go? Do they prefer crinkly nylon coats with pictures of skulls on them?

Mad lot.

Also I would never want to spend even £10 on ONE JUMPER so £56 has me baffled I'm afraid.

I get everything in the sale and it's never that much.

Nappyaddict I am with you on all aspects of this!

MsPontipine · 20/09/2008 18:35

Ponchos worked for Clint Eastwood - very cowboy! DS was at a party about that age nappyaddict and got a bit nippy so he borrowed a pale purple poncho and he looked gorgeous in it.

They are also perfect for snuggling up into for an impromptu nap.

Some parents a just unwilling to think outside the Boden Box!!

nappyaddict · 20/09/2008 19:03

oops i meant to put are the shops by me unusally expensive to where you lot all shop. i routinely pay about £10 for things like jackets - not jumpers. i see a poncho as more of a jacket type thing not a jumper. you know something inbetween a jumper and a coat.

Is he a crusading gay cowboy baby?

MsPontipine · 20/09/2008 19:42

Don't mince your words Icod

ScottishMummy · 20/09/2008 19:51

very swish - i like it.for a girl

chenin · 20/09/2008 20:04

Oh... don't be ridiculous... it is totally revolting. Putting a girl in it would be sacrilege and putting a boy in it would be complete and utter torture... unless he was on a horse with a cheroot hanging out his mouth...

SuperSillyus · 20/09/2008 20:08

I like it.

daftpunk · 20/09/2008 20:17

it reminds me of a toilet roll cover my nan had. can you send it back?

i love ponchos on kids..they look great with jeans and boots.....just not that one.

TsarChasm · 20/09/2008 20:21

Er...it looks a bit like a nice old lady who means well knitted it for Christmas.

I don't hate it, but it does reimind me rather scarily of some of the things I was wearing in the early 70's (that were knitted by well meaning old ladies...there were a lot of them about in those days)

TsarChasm · 20/09/2008 20:22

Hey it can be retro! It's cool in that case. Worn with irony

TsarChasm · 20/09/2008 20:24

They are also selling a large stuffed tooth on the site. How surreal.

ChacunaSonGout · 20/09/2008 20:24

it is fab and yes i would dress my boys in it

i knew spidermama would like it

My boys have hair clips and fun colours they enjoy clothes

Themasterandmargaritas · 20/09/2008 20:31

I was all ready to say 'yeuk, poncho on a boy?' but then I saw it and I can imagine my enormous ds (16 months) looking pretty cute in it, I (grudgingly) admit. However with all that flappiness to it the dog would have her chops around it in a flash and would drag him halfway across the garden when my back is turned...
