masala, are you really vicky beckham? come on, now... you can tell us.

themildmannneredjanitor · 19/09/2008 14:57

300 quid??????????????????/ for an outfit for a 3 month old?? how?????

i don't feel bad about it at all. he has worn it and worn it and when he had worn it for 2 years and the fabric started splitting , they replaced it free of charge with a new one in a bigger size.

and it will pass on to ds2.

nappyaddict · 19/09/2008 14:58

masala - i went past you the other day in your shop and you looked hard at work

i've almost got the boyfriend ... give me a few years and i might see you for a dress. as long as it doesn't cost more than £13.67 -

Please take lots of photos of him in it so you can show his girlfriends when he is older and they can laugh at him and he can accuse you of abuse as DH does to his parents for some on the monstrosities they made him wear - a green and blue striped poncho springs to mind - poor sod will never live it down!

solo · 19/09/2008 15:20

I like it, but not for a boy...having said that, some boy toddlers can wear that sort of thing very well.
My Ds always wore yellows and oranges, but not a poncho.

This is the best thread in Actie Convos, right now...hands down

Gosh cant believe how rude people are. NA didn't ask for opinions! I think its lovely and very reasonable

nappyaddict · 19/09/2008 15:51

They are 2. I don't think they really care what eachother is wearing.

Spidermama · 19/09/2008 15:56

Very nice NA.

Some very weird reactions on this thread (sammybeth and Cod) betraying serious herd fixation ishoos.

Miaou · 19/09/2008 16:04

Well I think it's lovely, but then I love rainbows anyway

Ignore the rude people who need to ask Johnny what to wear before they step out the door each morning

seeker · 19/09/2008 16:17

It's not the colour that's girly - it's the poncho-ness of it. There is nothing quite so like a poncho as a poncho! If it was a rainbow jumper or coat it's be fine - if it was a sludgy poncho it's be not fine!

mustrunmore · 19/09/2008 20:04

Funny that most opposition is to the look/colour/ponchoness not the price, but I balked at the price but actually really like it as an item!! Ds1 used to always wear gaudy stuff cos I was so scared of losing him But ds2 is far more understated (even tho more likely to run off) because he wears alot of our neighbours cast offs. She buys alot of khaki and brown, and jeans jeans jeans. But its nice that he doesnt always just have ds1's stuff.
I did buy ds2 a winter coat; Adams sale £10.33. So I dont always manage to get bargains!

MadamAnt · 19/09/2008 20:11

at cod and sammybeth. Cod - 2 yr olds have no idea re: freakiness.

I love it - it's gorgeous.

solo · 19/09/2008 23:10

The price is excellent. Do you have any idea just how much work and time go into hand made things? especially knitting/crochet.

thisisyesterday · 19/09/2008 23:16

it's absolutely lovely Nappyaddict and I agree, a fantastic price.

I don't get the whole boys can't wear bright colours thing either?
mine wear brights a lot. I hate that in a lot of shops all you can get is blue, grey, green and brown for boys.
really crappy.

he will look adorable in it and anyone who says otherwise is just bloody weird. He's 2 years old fgs! he isn't going to get teased, and if he did it would be by children who have learned it from narrow-minded ignorany parents like you lot

CaptainNancy · 19/09/2008 23:16

Is he an Indigo child?

BroccoliSpears · 19/09/2008 23:19

WTF is girly about a poncho? God I hate the idea that little boys should wear macho mini-man clothes in sludgy colours. I would absolutely put my ds in that poncho, and yah boo sucks to anyone who thinks he ought to be wearing a hillarious "I'm a little shit" slogan t-shirt instead.

elkiedee · 19/09/2008 23:25

It looks lovely but I probably wouldn't put it on a child of either sex because my ds does go to the park a lot and run around - I'm not concerned about it not being masculine, just not practical.

Saying that, doesn't look like I'm going to have a dd, but if I did she probably wouldn't get many dresses until she's 3 or 4 or so, or can insist on wearing them not trousers, as I did.

Saying that, it looks gorgeous, will you put a pic of him on your profile? Hope it's as nice as it seems when it turns up.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 19/09/2008 23:26

I like it

Miaou · 20/09/2008 09:12

at mustrunmore thinking it was expensive. At a conservative guess I would say that has taken about 30 hours to make. So that's less than 50p an hour for a skilled job. No wonder the crafting industry is sidelined to a hobby!

mustrunmore · 20/09/2008 09:25

I'm not denying its got alot of work to it, and that its expebsive in that sense.Just said I'd never spend that on one item, esp a non-essential!
As it happens, I've still got a poncho my Nan knitted me when I was about 2. Too precious to let ds2 wear it though

seeker · 20/09/2008 09:51

There is a world of difference between not wearing "macho mini-man clothes in sludgy colours" or "hillarious "I'm a little shit" slogan t-shirt" and dressing a little boy in something that WILL attract comment. If you think that 2 it too young to care about what they wear, or to be upset if someone makes an ignorant comment about their clothes, I think you are very wrong.

Bright colours are wonderful for little boys. Rainbow stripes are wonderful for little boys. Ponchos, however, are most definitely girly - if only by "custom and practice" Has anyone on here honestly ever seen a little boy wearing a poncho? I thought not.
