Black cafe vetyvr is out of stock (for my birthday pres from dh) - I love the numeg and ginger but can anyone recommend their favourite - I lean towards sandalwoody scents.. thank you

Had the vetiver/blue agave one, I really can't remember it, was exceptionally dull for a JM. (But on the right person, I've no doubt could be fantastic)
Wild fig/cassis is a favourite, pom noir is DH favourite on me.

bigspender30 · 03/09/2008 14:56

DO you know ladies I have never smelt a Jo Malone scent or would even know where to get it. Do you recommend it?

StellaDallas · 03/09/2008 15:01

I love it, but I don't really like heavy perfumes, JM is more subtle than that. She has a website and various shops - I think there is a list on the website.
DH has nutmeg and ginger - it smells nice on him, less so on me. We share the lime, basil and mandarin. Does anyone else's DH wear it, or is mine a bit on the metrosexual side?

Piffle · 03/09/2008 15:06

plain vetyver
I adore verbenas de Provence too
Really nice

catinthehat · 03/09/2008 15:08

Stella, I'm convinced that differnt JM scents smell best on different people, so not surprised l/b & m smells good on a bloke. Bigspender, yes I do recommend, but you will like some much more than others.

I noticed that there's a new lime one out in October...looks promising !

Amber and Lavender

moodlumthehoodlum · 03/09/2008 17:21

nutmeg and ginger dh bought for me with the vetyver, and the n&g smells yum on him, but not me.

I like the mint and jasmine one.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2008 17:21

jo malone online here bigspender - sweet lime and cedar - that'd be nice, citrus and woody together...

I got a mini set of 6 on a plane recently, and it suggested combining them - I use pomegranite noir and combine with the basil and lime one usually, or sometimes with amber - it's lovely. Don't know if you can get it non duty free but if you can it's worth a go?

The only one I don't like is orange blossom, smells like nasty air freshener imo.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2008 17:45

that'd be perfect but think it must be on on a plane -there's a fragrance combining starter set but that has bath oils/cream in it too - I'd rather a few small bottles to mix and match

Another vote for Pomegranate Noir

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/09/2008 22:53

The smell doesn't last though

I loved Lime, Basil and Mandarine, had a brief flirtation with Pomegranate Noir (which lasted a little longer), a Nectarine and Honey (?) one and Nutmeg and Ginger.

Don't think I'd buy again - price too expensive for something which smells nice for only a short time. Will revert to Annick Goutal's Eau du Sud, Chanel No 22 and Creed's Bois de Portugal.

Pomegranate Noir. Gorgeous. And I've been told also nice with orange blossom sprayed right after.

The online shop is fab.

Jura - I have been to a similar event at JM - they ply you with alcohol and relax you with free hand massages and then make you spend lots of money (but at least you come away with lots of nice smelly things)
