DH is complaining bitterly about my granny knickers - recommendations for cute ones please

I have lost some weight and have to replace my pants because they were literally falling off me. As an interim measure I ordered some from M&S which didn't look too huge on the model but when I tried them on came up to my navel. They're a bit too baggy as well (even though they're a size 16 and the ones I threw out were a 20).

Anyway, DH is not impressed by them and I need to buy some better ones. I have narrow hips and a relatively small flat bum but I have a big saggy tummy So teeny pants would look ridiculous.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find me comfortable cotton pants with adequate tummy coverage that look sexy (or at least don't look like granny pants).

bran have you tried the M&S shorts types? Like these or the others on the same page?
I find them pretty good, look good under clothes and suit narrow hips/flat bum but also a bit sexy in a sporty kind of way, DH also likes them.

I don't get on with shorts generally, I don't know why really, they just don't sit comfortably on me. DH doesn't think they are sexy either. He's not into sporty at all, the only female athletes he's ever shown an interest in are beach volleyball players, and that's probably mostly because they keep slapping each other on the bum when they score a point.

Glad DH has now expressed approval.

Any other trials?

bran · 31/08/2008 16:23

No, that's it. I'm wearing the La Senza pants today under low rise jeans and they are working quite well, but they are nothing like as comfortable as the Brazilian pants. The brazilian ones stay put though, and are high-ish all around so there would be a slight risk of knicker-flash when bending down to pick up a child in low-rise trousers.

I don't get the thing with M&S, I really don't - why do people like them so much, they're so ...frumpy and plain and sensible but not even in a good way. I hate M&S. They remind me of my auntie wendy.

I am angered by the first few links of M&S pants. Angered I tell you.

LOL at Boco, I have been spared seeing any of my auties in their pants so don't have any particular bad associations. The thing about M&S for me is that they have cotton pants, which is not that common in other shops.

Shame on you SS, you hussy. (Isn't it uncomforable when you're wearing jeans?)

boco I agree with Bran. It is quite hard to find cotton pants elsewhere.

I have bought some supermarket ones but the elastic seems to go straight away or they fall apart.

My M&S ones are not exciting but have lasted several years and are comfy.

DrAnthonyZybutz · 04/09/2008 14:29

right haev bought some brazliian pants
will try tomorrow

Overmydeadbody · 04/09/2008 14:51

I agree with Boco, if you want nice looking underwear don't go to M & S. They are all granny pants, even the lacy ones

I have a preference for lacy shorts and have some very nice ones from Debenhams and loads and loads of short and brazilian style ones form Primard and topshop and H&M.

M&S is for old folk

Overmydeadbody · 04/09/2008 14:53

almost all my underwear is cottob, it's not that hard to find? surely?

MadamAnt · 04/09/2008 15:03

Agree with OMDB. H&M esp good. Primark don't last v well IME

bran · 05/09/2008 19:19

H&M aren't online though, are they? I don't think I have an actual H&M shop within a convenient travelling distance. They are usually very good quality though. I'm not keen on Primark at all, and find it hard to believe they are a step up from M&S.
