DH is complaining bitterly about my granny knickers - recommendations for cute ones please

I have lost some weight and have to replace my pants because they were literally falling off me. As an interim measure I ordered some from M&S which didn't look too huge on the model but when I tried them on came up to my navel. They're a bit too baggy as well (even though they're a size 16 and the ones I threw out were a 20).

Anyway, DH is not impressed by them and I need to buy some better ones. I have narrow hips and a relatively small flat bum but I have a big saggy tummy So teeny pants would look ridiculous.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find me comfortable cotton pants with adequate tummy coverage that look sexy (or at least don't look like granny pants).

hmmm. agree they're not exactly sex on legs..... but think you need to define "not grannyish " for me...... you aint going to get "adequate tummy coverage" unless they are of a substantialish nature are you? little wisps of chiffon aren't going to hide any wobbly bits....

BBBee · 24/08/2008 15:55

tell dp to get out of his grandad pants and buy him this

seb1 · 24/08/2008 15:56

Did you tell him the matching knickers were £30, that would shut most men up

BBBee · 24/08/2008 15:56

tbh if you want comfort and tummy coverage that is your best route. ohterwise there is the opiton of changing into un-granny pants pre dp seeing yeah right!

BBBee · 24/08/2008 15:57

opps - buy him this

janeite · 24/08/2008 15:58

French knickers could be a possibility too - but I find them bloomin' uncomfortable I must admit.

bran · 24/08/2008 15:59

at BBBee. He did once buy largeish white y-fronts that made him look like Homer Simpson. I complained bitterly and then threw them away they got accidently lost in the laundry. So perhaps he feels he has every right to insist minimal knickerage.

Cfa, I think up to the navel is a bit to grannyish for me, unless there is a lot of bum and thigh showing. It's really the bottom of my tummy that I have the most sagginess trouble with so I can't wear anything extremely low or flimsy.

seb1, I did tell him how much matching knickers cost and he did indeed promptly shut up. I don't mind pay a lot for bras because the expensive ones do support me better and last longer, but I can't bring myself to pay those sorts of prices for pants, especially if they are man-made fibres.

I like boy shorts, frenchies and thongs although I see the thongs are not for you.
I can't wear normal pants at all as they ram up my butt within ten minutes and give me four arse cheeks and if they are not doing that they give me VPL and gusset syndrome

Cappuccino · 24/08/2008 16:26

sloggi seem to have some nice ones

like these

tho I do not own any

bran · 24/08/2008 16:41

I quite like Sloggi, those ones don't seem to be cotton though which puts me off a bit. The reviewers do mention that they are comfortable even in hot weather, so perhaps I shouldn't rule them out.

Could you try a few different styles from somewhere like Primark and then when you find a flattering, comfy style buy some better quality ones?

orangehead · 24/08/2008 16:42

This type I find flattering on the tummy. But would better in blackwww.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product_id=JP-1032&mci=&size=&colour=&image=r530023-p59 5752-front

orangehead · 24/08/2008 16:48

I will try again

Cappuccino · 24/08/2008 18:41

no I prefer cotton too

however they do all seem to be tedious, cotton ones

bran · 24/08/2008 19:10

Cotton ones are dull, aren't they? I thought that perhaps I was just missing the right retailer to have gorgeous, flattering knickers, but obviously not.

These are the granny knickers that are bothering DH by the way. They are much bigger on me and easily reach my belly button. They were bought in a hurry because I had reached a stage where my trousers were the only thing stopping my underwear from falling down to my ankles.

Havent read the whole thread but thunderpants are a nice level between big pants and cute pants.

oi · 24/08/2008 19:15

m&s do some nice cotton underwear some with err lacy panels if that's what takes your fancy. They are in the bikini or high leg bits - white or black cotton.

personally, I think you want cotton round your bits.

bran · 24/08/2008 19:16

Lol at the name, but I think DH would consider them to be granny pants no matter how amusingly named they are. They look extra big to me anyway, although it's hard to tell as they're not on a model.

HaventSleptForAYear · 24/08/2008 20:08
