Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.
Apologies for belated new thread.

ha ha Suzy, shall I tell you about my weekend with dh at 5 star hotel in Threadneedle St, the City lovely and peaceful at weekend, great exhibition at The Hayward Gallery, fab tasting menu at The Boxwood cafe at The Berkeley hotel, got black cabs everywhere, so wore high heels, and lipstick, not to mention porny underwear (bought accidentally in pmt shopping accident)

anyway was ages ago and memory of it is fading, will stop going on

I think you've rendered sw speechless www

Anyway I'll be in your bad books when I confess to sitting outside on last Monday with one of dd's schoolfriends mums, drinking cava and NOT wearing sunscreen. I completely forgot due to the interesting gossip chat we were having.

I ended up with sunburned nose, neck and arms

Bloody hell Sobernow, I think you need to eat and drink whatever it takes to get through that little lot.

Now having a v tearful and fat day brought on by realising that my only 2 black skirts I like are in wash and I have NOTHING else to wear. So a large (large being operative woerd) La Redoute order = 1 black top I like.

I'm full of self loathing and disgust and know that drinking wine and eating banofee this week has been my downfall but must get back on wagon next week, it's either that or get a gastric band fitted or sometihng. looked in mirror and wanted to cry. Sorry for whinging everyone. Was feeling happy but wardrobe crisis has really affected me.

dear girl, THINK how much you have already lost. And anyway, your dh still thinks you're sexy, especially in your porny undies.

moonshine · 08/08/2008 13:48

Bloody hell Sobernow - sounds hellish - the wagon will pick you up when you're ready to come back on.

WWW - Scales and clothes are my daily mood indicators (which is why I am liking these cardigan cooler days) You are at home, no? Can you slob around in your pjs? Do you have to go out today and face the world? Can you put the skirts in the tumble drier (and stuff the environment for an hour or 2)? Let us grit our teeth together - surely only the likelihood of 3/4 really hot weeks now (and they probably won't be) and autumn creeps ever nearer with all its sartorial delights. (I am already looking at the new collections online and have sorted out my tights drawer!).

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2008 14:05

Oh thanks, thanks, you're all very kind I have to leave the house, sadly, I have promised dd Kung Fu Panda this afternoon. At least it's in a dark cinema hey? I have realised that the skirt I have on IS still loose, it had just been washed and therefore was tight for 2 minutes until I walked around a bit. Moonshine, have to say prospect of working next week in heat quite depressing plus work have announced it's casual wear all summer and I don't do casual really. Never mind, will go hardcore again next week and screw my courage to the sticking post etc.

Dh said he loves me and thinks I look fab and that he'll do anything I like to make me happy today, bless him. I do love him. Thanks for listening and being kind you lot, sorry for self indulgence.

moonshine · 08/08/2008 14:29

WWW - Weather actually looks crap next week, and summer is being whittled away. Your dh sounds so lovely. My dh's compliments run the full gamut of 'quite nice' to 'very nice' if ever pushed (I don't really bother now).

Cinema will be dark and cool. I wish I didn't have to leave the house today but we have no food and so I am trying to work up the enthusiasm and courage to go shopping with dcs (who are not dressed yet ). But there is no wine in the house [panic].

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2008 14:32

Moonshine, thanks for making me laugh and yes, summer nearly over ish thank the lord!

We have NO FRIDGE until tomorrow as we came back to melted ice cream and brojken fridge freezer last night. Have bought one to arrive tomorrow thank goodness but the only way I will get cold wine tonight is to put it in other freezer briefly. And I will be drinking tonight, obv, will start hard core again from Monday.

And both (almost identical, black, long, Greek widow look) skirts are now in wash!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 08/08/2008 15:18

Crikey Sobernow - I think I'd have thrown myself under the wheels of the wagon.

www - sorry you are on a bit of a downer. You dh sounds lovely, bless him. I'm still snurking at your porny underwear

I have shopped this morning with ds2's trip to V-Festival in mind. What the hell he's going to eat for 4 days/nights is beyond me. Pot Noodle and tins of all-day breakfast? I'm starting to have a bit of a
panic about it all TBH.

tortoiseSHELL · 08/08/2008 15:24

www, sorry you're having a bad day. I think clothes do so much to boost or shatter women's self esteem. Your 'newly-washed skirt' reminded me of a day last year when ds1 was very nearly late for school - he came home and told us that he had told the whole class and the teacher (who is a very good friend of ours outside school) that he was 'very nearly late today because Dad couldn't fasten his trousers - he was hopping round all over the house trying to get the zip to do up'. They were jeans straight out of the wash, but dh was VERY embarrassed.

Anyway, hope you're feeling a bit happier, and as moonshine says, summer is nearly over (and in Bristol it hasn't started!). Your dh sounds lovely too. My dh is horrid about weight etc, but have learned to live with it!

Sobernow - sorry you're having an awful time - it does sound grim. I think you're quite right to jump off the wagon for a bit! Hope things improve soon.

oi · 08/08/2008 15:41

I am sorry sobernow but I did laugh at the 'my husband is a journalist' bit lolol. Was too busy whacking www around the head and forgot to pick you up and plonk you back on the wagon.

Many sympathies. Sounds like you could use a stiff drink.

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2008 18:29

lol ts re your dh and thank you to you and Saggars for kind words

I laughed at the boiler journo thing too Sobernow

Took dd to cinema and got little black and white sticker photos of the 2 of us printed at a photo booth while we were we were waiting and a couple of them aren't too bad AND I had no make up plus crap hair so I have decided I must get a bloody grip and just enjoy the rest of my holiday and get backto it proper on Monday.

gotta go, making a fairy princess kit! Feel much happier, thank you all.

Went to the seaside today, it was actually raining when we ran onto the beach but cleared up in 10 minutes and then was nice & sunny. Came home mid-afternoon and watched the Olympic Opening Ceremony. I keep bristling about the Chinese government whenever DD1 says she's supporting China. [earnest mother emoticon]

Have eaten cereal, sausage roll, crisps, apple & rich tea biscuits. Breaded cod, new pots & peas and a lemon mousse. Lots of water. One measly coffee!

Lots of jogging about on the sand whilst carrying the almost 13lb Archie in the sling, so some exercise!

Enjoy the weekend!

cerys · 09/08/2008 09:14

Off on holiady for a week to the land of cream teas

Hope the rain stops....

tortoiseSHELL · 09/08/2008 10:53

Yesterday - ok for me;

Food - ham and cucumber sandwich open sandwich on half a piece bread, pumpkin and sunflower seed oatcake, a couple of raw carrots, grapes, cherry tomatoes, then in the evening dh wanted Indian, so we got a Chicken Shaslick between us, so I had some of the onion/pepper/mushroom and a small piece of chicken. No rice or nan.

Exercise - not a lot, but went swimming with the children.

Water - yes.

WideWebWitch · 09/08/2008 11:25

Hello all
Realised that all I ate yesterday was

chicken breast wrapped in bacon
about 15 sweets from pic n mix at cinema
some sizzling prawns in Indian restaurant
wine

Seem to have bug again (let's hope it's temp but hey, if there's more weight loss there's a silver lining!) so had a couple of bits of salami and some cheese this morning when I woke (4.30am and couldn't back to sleep but went back at 8.30 and slept for a couple of hours) but will see how I go.

that's probably not enough food but never mind. I don't want to go back to work next week, wah!

WideWebWitch · 09/08/2008 11:26

sobernow - you'll look back and laugh at this in 5 10 15 20 years time. and arf @ 'fascinating companion' - every family has one!

mmm to sizzling prawns.

I've done nothing this morning and now feel a bit guilty. The children have all disappeared into the fields. But I can't hear any screaming...

OldGregg · 09/08/2008 20:24

MavisGrind - hope you survived the flight!

Shopped in Tunbridge Wells today and bought beautiful Monsoon brown silky top in a size 14 which clings badly to my norks and will have to go back. Neither did they have the next size down in the black trousers I wanted. I did stock up on Estee Lauder. I also bought lots of cheap DVDs in Woolies (Narnia, Bridge to Terabithia etc, all £5) only to find that DD1 has broken the TV. So I have had black dog since (see foul language thread).

Have eaten cereal, apple, MacDs, tarragon chicken, rosti & green beans. Not enough water. Too much anger.

tortoiseSHELL · 09/08/2008 21:52

Oh, must look that thread out OG! Agree, sizzling prawns sound yummy!

I had my hair cut this morning (which is a rare event here - trying to get an hour free from the kids is very hard!), - hadn't had it done for about 8 months, so after lots of tut-tutting from the hairdresser, and also 'I can tell you go swimming a lot, you have swimmer's hair' - I feigned 'fitness' and didn't say 'yes, I wallow in the small pool while the kids swim'! , she cut off about 6 inches - it is still longish, but just beyond shoulder length, and I can actually get a brush through it, and I also had the front bit 'feathered' a bit, so I feel quite stylish! I really wanted to get it cut before the London wedding next week, as I always feel hopelessy frumpy and yokelish in London!

Other than that, exercise - only housework today. Food - 1 piece of bread with ham and cucumber, a pumpkin and sesame seed oatcake (I really can recommend them), a strawberry, couple of grapes, raw carrot, plenty of water, some diet coke and tea. Haven't had tea yet, but will be something light - will update later. Sunscreen - sadly again no need.

Can you kick me into action on moisturisers? What do you use (and when) on
a) Face
b) Hands
c) Feet

Thank you! Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend, and marina, belated wishes for a happy holiday!
