Please say yes as I think I am slowly getting the hang of this board and people are saying 'that's Ok' rather than 'geez you must be insane' sometimes

linky

Bottom right, 'Abington'

Quite nice in a vintagey kind of way.

Trafficcone · 03/08/2008 19:55

LOVE IT!

girlnextdoor · 03/08/2008 21:18

horrible- totally shapeless and weird crochet panels on bust?

Ledodgy · 03/08/2008 21:21

it would look lovely with this

blithedance · 03/08/2008 21:26

It is too little-girly for me, in a vintage way. I know friends who could get away with that pinafore/Peter Pan collar look - petite, stylish and confident types i'd say!

I already look young for my age, if I wore it I'd probably have trouble getting served in the pub!

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 15:27

Well I got it and it is amazing!! So ner

Only thing was I ordered a 12 and that was enormous so I got the 10 that was in the shop instead.

I think it's going to get a lot of wear this winter. It's short enough to wear with boots and expose a little knee, but long enough to be moderately dignified.

Linen might crease a bit but otherwise very very nice

hobbs = frumperama. amen

agree with mi about kookily vintage

but you have to have right look altogether to pull it off

I have friends who would look great in it whereas I would look as if I was wearing my granny's dress

you would need very edgy hair imo

I like it a lot, it's unusual and vintagey looking, I bet you look great in it. Don't listen to the M&S brigade

DoubleBluff · 12/08/2008 15:42

Looks a bit Morticia esque
or prime of Miss JAean Brodie

noitsgrubby · 12/08/2008 15:44

I have the very same dress (bought in sale too) It's my 'chuck it on for work in the morning when my brain isn't functioning and still look smart enough for a meeting but a bit funky' dress.
Fabric is good, medium weight linen, nice colour.
I've worn it loads and heartily recommend - but then again I may have dreadful taste.
I wear it with these shoes www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=19551&storeId=12556&categoryId=7 3933&parentcategoryrn=42358&langId=-1&top=Y Jay lace up part 2 shoe.
and have not a care in the world....

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 15:48

Ooh blimey I love those shoes!!!

I like the yellow ones too on the left.

Yes prime of Miss JB, I am happy with that association!

It's such a nice dress...you know when you spend your life looking for the dress that is you, and then you just know...

noitsgrubby · 12/08/2008 15:51

Fanlight, we need to go shopping - with flightputsonahat - but only if she likes my shoes too

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 15:58

tis I

I am flight but every timeI flounce I need a new variation

Sorry

noitsgrubby · 12/08/2008 16:03

You're forgiven, I'm usually welshmum but for technical reasons am operating under this name at the moment

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 16:16

Oh I wondered who you were!!!

Niceychops · 12/08/2008 16:46

No. Sorry. I straightaway thought of something a nun would wear to the seaside.

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 18:11

Pmsl!!!! 'I am nun at the seaside.' That will carry me through many, many bad mornings

Podrick · 12/08/2008 18:51

yes it definitely reminds me of a nun
are you one?

PavlovtheCat · 12/08/2008 18:52

its 'hobbible'

Fanlight · 12/08/2008 18:57

Between you and me I may as well be

Not likely to be getting any dressed in this either I suppose...!

Well I like it...
