i would quite like to discuss fripperies such as handbags in the sales, but feel a bit awkward given the curren economic climate and the financial hardship of others -- can we discuss please?

sometimes i like mn for the serious stuff

but other times i want to chat about shoite - and this sometimes includes shoite about buying stuff - unnecessary stuff like handbags and shoes

i haven't, for a while (talked about it) for fear of upsetting someone that is struggling to make ends meet

whaddya think?

tutter of course you can discuss handbags, don't be daft

FAQ · 10/07/2008 12:57

ahhh Ruby - mine and green and white, cheaper than the blue and white

cocolepew · 10/07/2008 12:58

I bought a blue and white spotty, Kath Kidson shopper from Tesco. It cost £3.50 for Marie Curie and it's made from plastic bottles and it's lush

Ruby - yep Asda - I don't "do" Tesco, and Asda recently started deliverying in our area so use them now.

bearmama · 10/07/2008 13:04

coco, I saw those, they are nice, I JUST managed to stop myself buying one since i have about five similar at home

As for handbags, nothing cheers me up on the street more than the sight of a nice handbag, I love the Paddington, the Mombasa, the Roxanne, the Bayswate, ooh, too many to mention.

Its bag porn - and I'm addicted

coco - oh, okay, you've forced me.

MrsMattie · 10/07/2008 13:52

I can't afford a pot to piss in at the minute, but I'll quite happily talk handbags with you!

Lizzylou · 10/07/2008 13:53

I'm always skint but love droolinglooking
at what some of the MN stylistas buy.
Window shopping is always good, especially when in comfort of your own home.

shhhh · 10/07/2008 14:34

cocolepew, I bought one of those bags last week...! Been looking all week for a swim bag for when I take ds swimming as the one I have atm is knackered....so drooled over various bags but couldn't bring myself to part with such cash, after all it will only get used once a week for 30 mins (says she who has numerous dior,LV,Prada etc bags that get used.........Hmmm........yearly )

So I splased (Ha..excuse the pun.!) out on one. I couldn't bear to hear my mother tell me one more time "use a carrier bag love" !

And I soooooo lurve it!

i just can't drum up enthusiasm about handbags whatever the economic climate, i blame my mother for my accessorising inabilities. IMPORTANT teach your daughters how to accessorise instead of telling them not to get married every 2 seconds.

lizandlulu · 10/07/2008 14:42

so can we see some bags now please??

zippitippitoes · 10/07/2008 14:47

i have a handbag from priceless that was 4.99

i cant get very excited about them either

which is lucky i guess

i have more than enough stuff to waste money on

unnecessarily currently climbing gear and various outdoor pursuits stuff

not to speak of the car which is costing me 2200 to fix

in the current economic personal climate of zippi if i start a thread will you all find me a job? i am giving myself a deadline of 8 weeks i think

zippitippitoes · 10/07/2008 14:52

so where are the handbags then?

Tutter · 10/07/2008 15:12

yes, well i did think it came across a bit like that cod

that's partly why i asked for it to be deleted

several hours ago

zippitippitoes · 10/07/2008 15:15

ah come on tutter there are always people who cant afford stuff on mn and always have been

worry not

cocolepew · 10/07/2008 15:27

Kath Kidson bags for Tesco

ninedragons · 10/07/2008 15:40

Don't worry about it. Talk about handbags and if the sanctimoniousness starts just point out that like it or not, consumer spending keeps the economy going so buying that handbag was a patriotic act.

The one moderately intelligent thing George Bush has managed to say in seven and a half years was that the best reaction to Sept 11 was go out and buy something.

bearmama · 11/07/2008 00:32

shhhh have you ever been on the purse forum?
