Lady bob?

My hairdresser keeps giving me a lady bob. I really like her but it’s like she sees my age (53) and that’s what she feels I should have. Think page boy style. I probably need to move hairdressers. But what should I be asking for? Something cooler/younger? How can I describe it?

Do you mean a 'Page Boy' like Joanna Lumley had when younger?

Planningatripsoon · Today 11:21

@GoodGirlFaith its more Hilary Clinton esque.

You could find a style you really like and show her a picture of it.

I’ve tried that. But maybe I’ll try again. Hard as we’re actually friends now and it would be really awkward to leave 🤣

You could go to a new hairdresser once and get the cut that you want (a friend got you a gift voucher) and then just go to her for a trim.

Cunning! Yes. A bit pathetic of me but she’s so sweet and we have chatted about lots of life stuff and I feel bad just binning her off

Visit a couple of hairdressers and ask for a consultation and some style recommendations. If you like the sound of what they’re suggesting, book in with them.

Beware, lots of hairdressers are shite at cutting short hair well and have no idea how to do a decent precision hair cut. You need someone who actually enjoys cutting a variety of short hairstyles.

I’m in my 60’s and have a sharp pixie cut and bleach/colour it myself with bright purples and pinks. I couldn’t bear to have a mumsy bob! 😂

Good idea. A short cut doesn’t suit me as I have a big face! But I want a more modern bob.

ahh OP I am in a similar boat! Have a look at DomDom on Instagram - he cuts amazing bobs! Maybe show your hairdresser one of his photos/videos? Good luck!
