Welcome to the 12th thread, we still have 50 days till the daily unboxing officially starts, although I very much doubt any of our calendars will remain untouched until then 😂
Still time for lots more friendly chat, tips and discount codes - to cut down on links as a poster requested, here's link to some very comprehensive run-downs of the calendars https://beauty-detective.com/category/beauty-advent-calendars/
When enjoying those breakdowns please remember that some are OOS already - Harrod's Fragrance, Harrod's Beauty and Selfridges Beauty to name a few.

If I wasn't on meetings all day I'd be on the first train to Birmingham.
I am beyond angry.
I'll never shop with them again.

Going to call Barclays now and see what they advise. Surely their own shitty policies can't override consumer protection?

Not 100% sure, but surely it's illegal? They haven't provided the goods you paid for in a saleable condition.

HolidayHattie · 13/10/2026 13:09

NC543210 · 13/10/2026 13:07

Barclays have said wait to see if they respond to my follow up email first and then call back if no resolution.

Good luck. That is totally unacceptable customer service and I hope you get a replacement or a proper refund.

SucksToBeYou · 13/10/2026 13:12

NC543210 · 13/10/2026 13:07

Report it. I spent yesterday doing that after seeing it on here.

Oh I reported more today, and a couple of them came back saying no action to be taken, because they had already been reported, perhaps that was you! Teamwork 😁

Donsyb · 13/10/2026 13:12

ClutteredPalace · 13/10/2026 13:08

I was going to ask if you could do a charge back or something? Item is definitely not as described! Surely the distance selling regulations come in to play here? Is it even legal for them to suggest it's non-refundable?

Your Core Legal Rights
Right to a Full Refund (Within 30 Days): Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have the legal right to reject a damaged or faulty item within 30 days of taking ownership (or delivery) and get a full refund.
Right to Repair or Replacement (Within 6 Months): If you miss the 30-day window or prefer to keep the item, you can ask the retailer to repair or replace it. Within the first 6 months, any damage or fault is legally presumed to have been present when delivered unless the retailer can prove otherwise.
The "SAD FART" Standard: Goods must be of satisfactory quality (not damaged), as described, fit for purpose, and last a reasonable length of time.
The Online "Cooling-Off" Period (14 Days): Separate from your faulty goods rights, online purchases come with a 14-day cancellation window under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 where you can return an item for any reason.

@NC543210 - what do I report it for? I think someone said it’s a banned item. But I can’t see where it says that on Vinted rules.

Forbidden item, however on some I got a reply to say it does not violate Vinted’s rules 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Beautyfox · 13/10/2026 13:16

What I don’t get is last year I ordered a 3k house item which came broken. Without question they refunded it and asked me to dispose of it as it was unsafe to post back (contained glass) so I have no idea why they are like this over such a small value item. However I do wonder if the manufacturer posted it directly so they were responsible for the refund rather than Selfridges themselves. However, it’s things like this that totally put me off using companies.

Onceadreamer · 13/10/2026 13:17

NC543210 · 13/10/2026 13:01

Yep!

Absolutely appalling. I've told them that I'll be returning it to the Birmingham store and to inform that manager and pass the case on to their managers there.

Wow. Keep us updated. This has sealed it for me. I won’t be buying one even if they come back in stock, and it’s a huge risk buying one from eBay - it will be a hassle if some are smashed.

I hope Selfridges reps are reading here. I spend a fortune on beauty, skin, clothing, bags, fragrance, as I am sure many of us do here. They’re are coming across really badly.

Do you have contacts there you can give feedback to?

Unfortunately, they never bother replying to me

beautygal · 13/10/2026 11:14

I thought I was lucky enough to get SFAC this morning but my order has just been cancelled!

Oh that really sucks. Such a bad form if they have more stock coming. Such a shitshow

Commercial selling also works

JoRaRaRa · 13/10/2026 13:24

@NC543210 is that 5% per item or altogether?

Donsyb · 13/10/2026 13:24

MaryBD · 13/10/2026 13:19

Which pretty much says it all!

MiaN · 13/10/2026 13:33

queue is moving?

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 13/10/2026 13:33

I’ve just got the SFAC. I was initially 2200 in the queue after waiting firm 8am. I was 870 when the queue was paused and just got through now. I really hope it doesn’t turn up smashed. If I hadn’t been so high in the queue I wouldn’t have bothered.

Realtnamara · 13/10/2026 13:33

MaryBD · 13/10/2026 12:45

I think the scalpers just snapped up all the stock again, like last time, and then the website started glitching. That would explain why so many people had their payments declined, while others managed to pay even though the stock was already gone.

Judging by the flurry of listings- probably true. However prices look lower. The antinpated double your money pay-out is not holding water in such a saturated market place. More reasonable than before. So after eBay take their fee, the scalper isn’t left with a massive profit for their mornings work and bot software? Will likely go down further, if we pause

JoRaRaRa · 13/10/2026 13:36

Ooo it's now saying 'This product is limited to a maximum of 1 unit and 1 order per customer.' - I think it should've said that all along to be honest 🫩

pinkchampagne1 · 13/10/2026 13:37

My poor DH only had about 3 hours sleep after his night shift as he got up especially to try and order the fragrance calendar. He still has over 20,000 in front of him in the queue! 😡

ClutteredPalace · 13/10/2026 13:38

Why is the queue moving if they have cancelled orders this morning? I wonder if they wont bother with a third drop and have just decided to release all the stock?

It’s moving very slowly. I had 41k in front now 39k

JoRaRaRa · 13/10/2026 13:24

All together. Total joke.

Hicupping · 13/10/2026 13:42

I wonder how many they produced?

Annamarieboo · 13/10/2026 13:42

The queue seems to be moving faster than this morning. I wonder if they tried to close all the loopholes....

Professional scalpers must use multiple accounts and multiple delivery addresses maybe. So not sure that policy does much to stop them without forensic style checking. My one extra one purchased for a friend got cancelled so they were checking accounts to some extent in last week's drop.

Sminty2 · 13/10/2026 13:42

I do love an AC but I’ve been bowled over by the Elle content, I love the Bio Effect, Murad etc and so, I’ve ordered another one. 🙊
Those two things alone are worth the cost and there are so many more lovely things in there too.

I think that (with the caveat that I’m often wrong), will be it (for October).

Now I can plunder my ‘old’ Elle box and await my new one, to sit alongside my HBAC, Boots Skin, Luxe and Scent, JLBAC, JLFAC, SFAC, and Degusto for the foodie fun.

Oh, this is fun!
