Best hot brush for 14 year old with thick hair

I want to buy my DD a hot brush thingy for her 14th birthday. I’ve never had any styling tools, I am very low maintenance, so I need help please!

She has very thick below shoulder hair that is different levels of curly and wavy. Do you know what would be good? She’s also fairly un-dexterous.

I am very cack handed and have a lot of unruly wavy to curly long hair.
I have had several babyliss big hair over the years and wouldn’t be without one.

Revlon one step for me

I’ve recently bought a Tymo one and love it

Tymo brush that styles and dries hair too. I have really thick hair and it works beautifully. Good price too.

Revlon One-Step Volumiser - it’s fab!

slugjelly · 12/10/2026 12:39

Thanks so much. Is the Revlon volumiser good even if the actually wants less volume?

I would say so, you can use it more like a hot brush in place of a hairdryer and it smooths hair out, I sometimes use this rather than straighteners. Then if you want the volume, you dry it by pulling the hair upwards from the root and it gives the volume.

Your daughter’s hair sounds similar to mine and my DD13.
would recommend the Babyliss big hair, it actually doesn’t create that much volume but is smoothing.

for absolute fool-proof ness the tymo brush, this really makes a difference and requires no more skill than brushing your hair. DD calls it the ‘magic brush’
only thing is the tymo is very hot so use it with heat protector and try not to use it every day.
