Knee high boots for fat calves

I would love some heeled knee high boots, probably black but would take brown. I'm a size 10 on top but a 14 on bottom due to lipodema and have disproportionately large calves, despite having a BMI of 22. I don't fit in normal or wide women's boots. Where does extra or extra, extra wide? Thanks.

I can't help unfortunately but hope you find something. I've noted that a lot of knee high boots are so slim fitting round the calves. I walk a lot so have quite muscular calves, and struggle with fitting.
I wish there were more options - I tend to go for ones that are lace up with a side zip so you can adjust the fitting, if that's any help.

I've not bought from them in a couple of years, but duoboots.com were my go-to for wide calf boots. They do a variety of calf widths, heel heights and colours. I'm still wearing the ones that I bought about 5 years ago and they still look good!

Rocknrollstar · 10/10/2026 10:38

I used to buy wide calf boots from Evans.

Evans, Duo and JW Williams. Brand new Duo sold through Oxfam on eBay though the sizings seem limited. Duo boots are lovely but I'm not sure that they are worth it full price.

ASOS do some. I’m a 14 and have 2 pairs, one faux suede cowboy brown with white stitching and another black leather knee high boots with buckles (which was hated when I posted here but I love them). The first pair are super comfy and I’ve worn them loads.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 10/10/2026 16:24

When I google wide leg boots, Pavers, monsoon, next, simply be, John Lewis etc all come up. I’d try a few of those and see which are the best.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 10/10/2026 16:27

Pavers do extra wide

Northernexiled · 10/10/2026 16:29

I haven’t been able to wear Clark’s knee high boots for years. Tried them on this year and I could get a calf and a half in…

MeandT · 10/10/2026 16:39

No help here....scrolling past the headline gave me a mental image of well fed baby cows in wellies - assume that is the wrong end of the stick tho?!

Nenya · 10/10/2026 16:42

Duoboots are good. Dune sometimes have knee high styles with a stretch panel which are pretty accommodating. Russell and Bromley did too but I'm not sure what they're like now they're no longer a standalone concern.

853ax · 10/10/2026 16:55

Same big calf's here annoying if need wellies.
In the past I did buy wide calf fitting boots but found as too loose around ankles they would slip downwards or twist said never looked right or comfortable
So wouldn't bother now. At the time I was quiet slim size 8/10 with big calf's

ChicLeFreak · 11/10/2026 09:09

My daughter has that problem so I bought her some gorgeous boots from Duoboots. There have a lovely selection and a choice of calf widths. They are not cheap but well worth spending that bit more for boots that fit and look great.

I’ve had Duo in the past and they’ve lasted years but out of budget now, I did get a pair from New Look last year that are really nice and have lasted well. I’d like a brown pair this year but haven’t found a pair yet

Nottodaybob · 11/10/2026 10:14

Thanks everyone. I've ordered a couple of pairs of duo boots (they have 30% off currently which was a bonus!). I wanted real leather which is why I went with them.

Wellies I got some muck boots in the sale which fitted but they've not lasted well which was disappointing. I'm going to try some le chameau - the men's are very wide. They're really pricey though so going to wait for a sale.

I do live in wellies though as we loan a pony for my daughter so that plus the dog means they get almost daily use!

Heavenly feet do various calf sizes also. Very reasonable price too.

😊

edit! I’ve just seen they don’t ship
to the UK any more which is a shame! It’s been a while since I bought them!

do you know anyone in Europe?

I want wide fit boots, which have a normal width foot, slim ankles, a low heel, no stretch panels. This doesn’t seem to exist! In the EU so Duo don’t deliver here. I’m a UK 10-12 and don’t think my calves look enormous but I must be in denial!

How did you get on with the Duo boots?
