Hi! Has anyone tried a vitamin B5 supplement for acne?
I’ve found one with good reviews but I’m always skeptical.
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻.

I've not had much success but have had benefits from carnitine. There's an alternative protocol for B5 which uses B5 at lower doses, and carnitine alongside. Can't remember whose it is but you'll find it if you Google.

The main negatives are possible depletion of biotin or ALA, which compete with B5 for transport.

I'd also look into zinc and glycine for acne.

Thanks -the brand I’ve looked at is called skinB5 and they’ve added biotin, zinc and some other things to the supplement. I’ll look into carnitine, thanks so much!

Biotin and B5 in the same supplement is stupid because they literally compete for absorption. If you're taking them together, you can only absorb half of each. They are best separated out by 2-3 hours from each other. The transporter they use is called the sodium dependent human multivitamin transporter (HMVT).

I found that increasing the amount of glycine I take has improved my zinc levels without increasing my zinc supplement. I take some collagen (contains glycine) as well as free glycine (a standard glycine powder supplement, taken with meals).

I personally don't see the point in paying a premium vs a multivitamin which would contain all of the above and more.
