Hi, im looking for retailer recommendations please, for decent high street jeans that don't lose their shape within an hour!
Thanks all 😊

I get most of my jeans from M&S these days. They have every shape you could want in pretty much every colour. Good quality with pretty consistent sizing. They also do many of the styles in tall and petite.

Conversationalcheddar · 07/10/2026 05:29

I second m and s. I always thought they were old, boring clothes for old, boring people
when I was younger but I’m now in my early 30s with two small children and have realised why they’re considered a national treasure of a retailer. They have a huge range of affordable options, with lots of size and fit options.

FancyKitten · 07/10/2026 05:31

M&S jeans. H&M are very good, too.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/10/2026 05:48

All my recent jeans have been Tu Sainsbury’s. But that’s only because when in store in M&S they never have my size. Also as pp said H&M are surprisingly good.

I really rate new look for jeans these days. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe after losing weight and tried one pair of their Quinn bootcut them promptly bought them in another 3 colours. I’ve worn them non stop since, the regular denim colour ones are a perfect fit and shape and the others are good too (though not identical fit even though same size the lighter ones are better fit I wonder if the dye effects the fabric on the dark wash?).

fabricstash · 07/10/2026 06:52

Carhart jeans. The denim quality is great

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/10/2026 07:49

Another vote for Sainsbury’s

Floisme · 07/10/2026 08:02

I’ve found M&S jeans can have exactly the problem that the op refers to - looking fine for the first few wears but then losing their shape. To be fair, their Barrel jeans haven’t done this (yet) but normally I prefer Uniqlo

Jemimapuddleduk · 07/10/2026 08:06

I love M&S jeans- do check out whether they have elastic in them though. The more rigid, barrel and carrot style are thick, non stretchy denim and hold shape soooo well! I have recently bought their high rise front pocket flares as I love the shape of them. They have a bit of stretch in them and I am hoping they keep their shape.

Tedsnan1 · 07/10/2026 11:21

Thank you all for replying! I'm heading into town today, will check out Marks and H&M, and Sainsbury's on the way home. Fingers crossed! 😊

I like H&M jeans but they do run long for me so have sadly had to return

Weeellokthen · 07/10/2026 17:12

Levis. Love em

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 07/10/2026 18:46

I’ve got on well with Zara jeans recently, I have some barrel and wide leg jeans for there and I wear them both a lot.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 07/10/2026 19:20

Next jeans are also worth looking at.

Next jeans are also worth looking at.

I'm about to return 13 pairs I ordered, various styles, and those I liked I've worn around the house for 20 mins or so and have found them stretching out of shape on bums, waists and at the knee in that short time. Not hugely impressed, though my sister in law swears by Next jeans.
Very frustrating.

Agree with M&S but I do find that you get knees in them a few hours. I recently bought 501 Levi’s and the difference is amazing. They hold their shape all day long and the style is classic. They are currently my favourites.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 08/10/2026 13:32

M and s jeans are not consistent in their sizing. I tried two different colours same style and both fit differently. The best ones for me are Levi’s

luckylavender · 08/10/2026 13:47

M&S Uniqlo

DramaAlpaca · 08/10/2026 13:51

Uniqlo jeans are amazing

Duckies · 08/10/2026 14:30

I think the key is to buy 100% cotton denim of you want to retain the shape. Fatface have some styles like this, so do Sainsbury's and Next. But look closely at the fabric content. They will be rigid and you have to be patient if you want them to feel soft. Anything described as 'soft' will include polyester or be pre- treated (i.e pre-worn). There is a tension between 'comfort' and shape. But jeans that are rigid and not skin tight can be comfy in a different way.

Willowskyblue · 08/10/2026 14:36

The Uniqlo jeans thst are 100% denim. No sagging or bagging. They’re the straight ones that are a collab with a brand I can’t remember. Really really good and just like Levi’s.

DramaAlpaca · 08/10/2026 15:31

@Willowskyblue do you mean the JW Anderson collaboration? If so, they're brilliant and such a decent price. I have a pair and they are just perfect.

2BarbieOrNot2Barbie · 08/10/2026 15:41

M&S magic jeans are great. Mine lasted around 7 years before I got a hole in the knee in one and the black jeans were a bit washed out. I still wear them when I’m dressing down though ( with a snazzy patch on the knee!).
