What boos would go with this dress for a clubbing outfit?

I’ve just ordered this dress to wear to go clubbing in. I am now panicking about what to wear on my feet! There is no chance I will be wearing shoes like those the model is wearing as I wouldn’t be able to stand up for 5 minutes in them.

I usually wear boots with everything, and definitely when clubbing as they are more comfortable than shoes, but none of my current boots will go with this dress. I also don’t tend to wear anything above a 2 inch heel, especially as I’ll be dancing for 6 hours.

Can you suggest/show me some boots that would go well with it please?

I was thinking black knee high boots with a tapered toe, stretchy fabric knee high boots or black cowboy style boots.

Please give me suggestions on type of boots and colour.

Thank you!

Father Finnegan is that you?

Boo hisses?

Laiste · 05/10/2026 12:41

I think dancing all night in long black boots would be hot and sweaty in the extreme!

Oh, goodness, I wrote that quickly and didn’t notice the error!

I always wear boots when clubbing - usually mid calf ones.

In the good old days of the late 80s early 90s I would have worn 10 hole DMs and looked fantastic.

I would prob wear some glittery trainers or ballet pumps but I wouldn’t wear this dress as I don’t have the legs!

MidnightMeltdown · 05/10/2026 15:50

IMO that dress is going to look odd with anything other than strappy sandals. They don’t have to be high. Go for kitten heels.

Lifejigsaw · 05/10/2026 16:06

What type of club? Mostly it's still trainers/flats around here for the 'main' club goer age but appreciate that doesn't make it universal!

OneTake · 05/10/2026 16:15

IMO boots won't go.

A great comfy suggestion, but they aren’t my style.

This is what I’m panicking about, as I don’t really ‘do shoes,’ who knows, maybe the dress won’t fit and I’ll wear something else instead and be able to wear my usual boots!

Bear with me ... I've recently bought three pairs of shoes from Clarks, which they specifically described as 'soft' leather. And they are soft! My feet are shite, yet have happily walked all day in all the shoes straight out of the box.

I just looked for ankle boots, and this was the first pair described as soft. I reckon you could wear 'em with that dress; I'd probably leave the top few holes unlaced.

Is the MoS still edgy? If so, go for these! If you need something a tad more 'feminine', have a look at their other stuff. Or try Next Forever Comfort, which are comfortable but not as foot-glove-like as the Clarks soft leather.

Brilliant sound system. Have a good time!

Moshulu has red boots. I'm not sure they're red enough?

Red cowboy-style ones from Next. They could work!

ETA: Just had another look at your dress with my screen's night light turned off, and it's more wine-red than red-red. My brilliant Next find wouldn't work with it. Sorry!

One last idea. Assuming you're a pale-skin, a pair like this wouldn't distract from the dress and look more dressed-up than the others I've shown.

I love this style and wear this cut a lot - admittedly not sequins though - I always wear heels though. 👠👠

Would you consider any other options?
What footwear do you wear in Summer?

I think boots would look great with that dress. Very Olivia Rodrigo 🙂

Maybe DMs and sheer black tights?

Thank you for your recommendations. I will certainly have a look. The ones in the image are not to my taste, but they may have others that are.

Thank you for these. Yes, they are not the right shade sadly, but the red cowboy ones are lovely.

Ooh, I like those - I wouldn’t have thought of that colour, but I think they could work. I think I might struggle in those thin heels, but I will add them to my basket and have a look on the Next site and might order them and try them. Thank you!

I have a dress in the same cut but it’s plain black and not sequinned and I love it with mock crock cowboy style boots - but they wouldn’t go with this dress.

In Summer I wear flatforms and small wedges.
