I’m going to a wedding (in a couple of weeks) in Scotland and am still looking for a dress. It’s been a long time since I went to a wedding!

I have 2 dresses, photos attached, but also like this one:

Me&Em but not sure if it’s weddingy enough.

I’m 5’10, size 10/12. Thanks!

Or maybe this in the green or polka dot…

I think the polka dot is the best. The blue & white one is too white and a bit casual. What sort of wedding is it? If there's a ceilidh then the polka dots might be too straight to dance in.

NeedAFuturePlan · Yesterday 14:44

@MiddleAgedDread my daughter would say the blue/cream one is too white!

What do you think to the Me&Em polka dot one? That’s not so straight… no ceilidh though. Thanks 😊

the polka dots is definitely the best of the 3 and you could dress it up

A lot depends on where the wedding is and what accessories you have/plan on. I wouldn’t say any of them are very weddingy but with the right accessories either of the spotty dresses could be.

What's the first one like? I can't really see it. Is it brown? What fabric? I think it's my favourite of the options but I'd need to see a better picture. The Me & Em one is a lot of money for a fairly non-descript dress IMO. The blue/cream one is quite white and too summery for October.

I don't know what you think is 'weddingy enough', IME you don't need to wear a fascinator or heels etc to look formal enough, but it would be nice to go a bit more glam than those options.

StormGazing · Yesterday 15:39

The first is black so a bit funeral esque! White is too casual. Dotty one is great

NeedAFuturePlan · Yesterday 16:08

@owlpassport the first one is a plum colour and a jersey fabric.

Agree the Me&Em is funeralesque/bit dull for the money and also that I don’t want a fascinator etc.

I like the blue and white best. Due to the pattern it's not too white and i don't believe black is appropriate for a wedding.

Sahara123 · Yesterday 17:17

First one too dull on colour. Second one too white and casual.
I LOVE the spotty one, that’s my kind of dress !

mondaytosunday · Yesterday 17:40

The ruffle dress. The long black one is too somber and looks like you are going to a funeral. The blue and white… it’s not too white but maybe a bit casual. The me+em dress not special enough. But the ruffle dress fits the bill!

Petuniapetals · Yesterday 20:47

I’m think the first one is dire and suitable for a funeral The blue and white one looks too summery for a wedding in October in Scotland. I do like the third polka dot one very much but again, very sombre for a wedding. Green ruffle one is probably the best of the bunch but I imagine you could do better, particularly given your figure and height.

QueenMummyTheFirst · Yesterday 21:01

I like the blue and cream one best. I think it's lovely, and entirely appropriate for an October wedding. It looks easy to dress up with nice accessories, and the long sleeves will keep you warm if it's getting a bit chilly by then.

NeedAFuturePlan · Yesterday 21:35

Thanks everyone - I’ve ordered the navy polka dot dress as it seemed to be the most popular 😊 Hope it fits 🤞

@NeedAFuturePlan Will you need a coat? Or is it all inside? It’s a summer dress in my view but ok for non church wedding.

There’s an amazing dark green organza one from Jaeger (M&S) that’s perfect for an autumn wedding. Take a look.

Delphiniumandlupins · Yesterday 23:38

I like the Nobody's Child in green the best. What is the venue? You can get married virtually anywhere in Scotland.

Shakespeareandi · Today 00:09

Definitely the green ruffle dress. Looks nice and dressed up. I'd go for that one.
