Can anyone beat this ancient empty?

Just finished this: Liz Collinge colour enhancer in ‘golden’. I vaguely remember buying it in a large supermarket, maybe Tesco, in the early 2000s. 2002 perhaps?

It sat mainly unused for years then recently I discovered it was great for mixing with foundation that was slightly too pale. I have another tube too!

Does anyone remember it? Or have a similarly ancient empty to share?

Can anyone beat this ancient empty?

2002!!! I bet that was riddled with bacteria 😱

MyRabbit79 · 29/09/2026 21:41

@Laura9899maybe! The tube kind of keeps the product sealed inside so fingers crossed not too many.

I loved Liz Collinge makeup back in the day. I can't beat that I'm afraid. I do have a L'Oréal true match foundation that always gets saved from my yearly purge that must be about 12 years old. Seems fine to use although I know we shouldn't. My mum had eye shadows that were years and years old!

@SparrowFeet I do tend to hold on to makeup for longer than I should and probably have some 12 year old items too. Definitely some ancient eyeshadows too, though I did recently do a clear out.

Not make up but I've got a Ruby & Millie eyeshadow brush that's got to be 25 years old 🤣 it's just the perfect shape and size and never lost it's bristles.

I have Kanebo brushes that are from the very late 80s and still wonderful

Oh God, some of my cosmetics collection are practically museum pieces! Mac brushes from the last century (mid to late 1990s), Victoria Jackson stuff from the mid 00s (chic packaging) and I’ve kept one Chanel Number 5 perfume bottle from 1977 (from a much-missed and sadly late old flame) that is probably long gone off but, well….. Actually, I have far more of this kind of thing than I should probably admit to, and the irony is I don’t even wear make-up most of the time. Never have.

I have a hair spray by Garnier Fructis which has been discontinued in the UK. I remember using it to style my hair for a night out in 2014 so it’s 12 years old. I never use hair spray, it came with me in a house move over a decade ago and has been in a drawer since.

I didn’t have professional makeup for my wedding but I bought some nicer products to use that lasted well.
I’ve just thrown away the Estee Lauder eyebrow pencil.
31 years old!

MyRabbit79 · 30/09/2026 06:43

@Serenity45 I had a ruby and Millie eyeshadow brush until very recently! Loved their makeup too.

@Sgtmajormummy 31 years - you’re in the lead so far I think

40 year old perfume, still fine. They are if you keep them in a drawer.

A 28 year old Ruby and Millie eyeshadow in a bright glitter green. Now I don’t use it but my husband does when he’s teaching a class about the trenches. He uses it all over the face as camouflage 😂
