Comfortable but smart shoes needed!!

Can anyone please point me in the direction of comfortable but smart shoes?

I will be attending a smart lunch in London just before Christmas. I will have to walk approx 1 mile from the nearest tube station to the venue and back and need some decent shoes. Last year a bought some low heels from Pavers and wore them for several weeks trying to break them in. They felt quite comfortable to start with. However, once I had walked to and from the venue, including standing during the pre-lunch reception for about an hour my feet were blistered and bleeding. I could do the walk in trainers and change when I get there but don't really want to have to be carrying extra bags.

So, requirements - probably black or navy, low heel (can't wear flats!), wide fit (bunions!) soft leather/fabric, but still smart.

Any recommendations gratefully received. TIA

Are cabs not a thing in your world? (I am not considering impecuniosity because it’s three months away and would be a very short journey.)

Not because one shouldn’t walk (in general) but just because my own experience is that I invariably turn into a hot sweaty mess if required to exert energy whilst dressed up for An Occasion.

Never heard of this. I will get some. I have used their blister plasters but they always seem to ruck up making things worse. Thanks.

To be honest, no I never think of taking a cab. Live out in the sticks and taxis few and far and have to be booked ages in advance. Perhaps I'll do that.

A bit pricey for me but thanks for the suggestion.

Or a bus/Uber? There’s nowhere I can think of in London that’s a mile from the nearest tube apart from Richmond Park…

Or just wear trainers and bring nice shoes in a bag to change into quickly on arrival? I always do this. Londoner and never walk or commute in shoes.
