Curly hair help

My 13 yr old is going to an event this weekend and I need some advice about styling his hair
He has very curly shoulder length hair, usually he just lets it dry naturally and it looks a bit frizzy but I would love him to have more defined curls for the photos, any product recommendations?

Wella Shockwaves Curls & Waves mousse

Boots Curl Creme. Just a little rubbed into the hands and then work into hair.

I like the bed head curls rock amplifier cream, just a pea sized bit gets rid of a lot of my frizz

Thanks all

I second this… works really well and is extremely good value.

Even though as a man I’ve had a few funny looks for buying products that are pink!

Whatever product he uses, apply on dripping wet hair (ie before grabbing a towel out of the bath/shower). Apply with flat hands then touch minimally to avoid frizz.

Dripping wet hair, product, brush through with a Denman brush (will help clumps form), then scrunch and either diffuse or leave to air dry, but crucially DO NOT TOUCH IT until it’s dry and crunchy. Only then scrunch out the gel cast - do it before and that’s what makes it frizzy.

I've been advised (by different people) to use curl creme (for the curls to hold their shape) and a humidity spray (to stop it from going frizzy).

For an event, I’d honestly keep it pretty simple. With curly hair, too much styling can sometimes make the frizz worse, especially if hair normally just air-dries.
Few things you can do is make sure the hair is really well conditioned, then gently scrunch it while it’s still damp and let it dry without brushing through it.

I use Herbishh Just Curls Shampoo and Conditioner and have had pretty good results with it. Since he’s 13, though, I’d check the ingredients and make sure it’s suitable for his age before trying it, especially if he has sensitive skin.
For the event, I’d actually do a trial wash a few days before. Much better than experimenting the morning of the photos! 😄
