Yes, it's a bit grey.

I really don’t like grey
We’ll get enough grey skies now coming into winter.
What a shame winter clothing is so dull coloured to add to the gloom.
I prefer Spring and Summer seasons ( for the pedants amongst us I know those words shouldn’t have capital letters but imho I think they should 😀 )

FallenNight · 30/09/2026 12:50

I bet it hurts though, that volume of hair in a high ponytail will be heavy!

That's how I feel! I like colour.

I like the outfit . I like a bit of grey. But I agree something less severe would have been better for this occasion. Love the high pony tail. She doesnt wear them enough IMO

eggandonion · 30/09/2026 12:55

Autumnal colours and Christmas colours are cheerier than school uniform colours!
I had 4 years of grey uniform!

KiIIingMeDeftly · 30/09/2026 14:32

How does she get her ponytail to look like that rather than scraped back? Does she wear some sort of hairpiece around the crown to give extra fullness?

Back combing.

RomainsCalmish · 30/09/2026 15:09

Love the hair but absolutely hate the grey outfit, and particularly the heels with that trouser suit and long coat. Sorry Kate.

Kates outfit is dull. As if she flung open the wardrobe and thought “This will do!”

Perhaps she, unlike Meghan, prefers to not be in the limelight when she’s clearly doing a visit to acknowledge and support a charity etc. Hence the muted dressing on some occasions yet the full Monty when at a film premiere or similar?

eggandonion · 30/09/2026 15:59

Kate has lots of nice green coats. Have we seen them recently.
She is busy surprising people this week! It is nice to see all the Euro royalty oit and aboit.

Isn't limelight part of the reason for visiting a charity? To bring it some measure of notice? Plus, I think Catherine is in the limelight no matter what she wears. I quite like the gray; I think it's understated, but elegant.

I take your point but I think she would be aware that for the people meeting her that day it’s very important to them. Im not saying she should be dressed up like for Ascot but it is good to look a bit more stand out. My later comment reflected that I had only just realised what occasion it was.

But to be honest its still a dull outfit any day of the week.

Maireas · 30/09/2026 16:42

To be fair, she'll be looking smart with hair done, nice jewellery and accessories. It's just not very interesting!

A bright aqua or teal or pink shirt would have been good. Or what about this season’s chartreuse? A silk chartreuse blouse would have been good against that gray.

I love chartreuse, I found such a gorgeous sweater in that shade.

I think chartreuse would not be a good choice for Kate (the Erdem dress!) but teal or pink would've been lovely on her.

Yes, she's probably not got the colouring

Me too. Funny how a uniform colour can put you off for life.

eggandonion · 30/09/2026 19:14

My first 3years of secondary were navy and maroon then we switched to grey. That rules out a lot!

Runningupthecurtains · 30/09/2026 19:33

Over the course of my school life I had burgundy, black, grey, bottle green, navy and brown skirts and/or tops the only one that I'm not keen on now is brown - that was my secondary uniform though so perhaps I'd find the other colours less likeable if I'd been forced into them as a teen.

Lifestooshort71 · 30/09/2026 20:16

I don't like Catherine's look. The hideously dated shoes and the grey grey grey everywhere. I also thought, watching the video, that she was slightly ott with her interactions - a bit like a tightly-coiled spring. I hope she's getting some decent down time.

Pallisers · 30/09/2026 20:20

It's a bit grey - to state the bleeding obvious. That outfit with the same coat in a different colour could have looked a lot better. I so wish she would ditch the stiletto heels. It isn't like she even needs the height.

smilesy · 30/09/2026 20:44

I have seen a picture of Catherine without her coat on and I like her blouse. It’s silver rather than grey. But I absolutely adore the trousers. They are pleated at the top with a turn up at the bottom. Very Katherine Hepburn. My biggest gripe is the heels
