Vinted sales to Australia

Hi, I’m in the UK and someone in Australia has made an offer on a pair of shoes that I’m selling. I can see that any item has to weight less than 2 kg, which they do. Has anyone had experience of selling /sending Vinted sales to Australia from UK? How is the postage calculated etc? TIA

I imagine it will be the same as usual- vinted calculates the cost of postage and gives you the label.
I use European vinted as I live in mainland Europe, postage costs different depending on where it’s coming from and going to. So for me items coming from Ireland cost about 7-10€ depending if it’s going to a shop or home address but if they come from where we live postage is about 3-5€ a bit more for neighbouring countries etc.

Great, thank you for your reply - very useful.

Someone in Australia made me an offer for a cardigan they were selling - postage was over £6. Cardigan was £1.62 🤣
I didn’t buy it!

Someone from Australia bought a skirt I was selling. I was a little anxious about it, and you can chose not to accept the sale, but I went ahead with it and it was all fine and straight forward for me. I don't know how the postage was calculated. It took about a week, maybe 10 days, for the skirt to arrive.

BlueKangaroo2 · 23/09/2026 00:06

We’re in Australia and DD had someone in the UK buy a costume she was selling, she was a bit surprised they went ahead but it all went through fine.

It’s worked fine for me. Vinted calculates the postage. It also worked perfectly for me to send gifts to family in Australia without having to use the extortionate prices the post office wanted!

How did this work? I'm imagining you put something on Vinted for £1. Then give your relative a heads-up and they buy 'it' you then send the real present via Vinted for £6 ?

That is a genius idea!
I sold a pair of children's DMs to someone in queensland, probably the last place on earth you'd need them. They arrived remarkably quick.

Yep. Perfect when they offered free postage in the first month or so when Vinted Oz started.

Wow! Wonder how long before they catch on..

I recently refused a sale to Australia - it doesn’t sit right with me that a small parcel is going thousands of miles in a plane presumably. I sell to make sure clothing stays out of landfill, not the money, and the environmental impact of making a sale for a few quid to someone in Aus feels ridiculous

I would be concerned about this backfiring. Surely the items have a contents description for customs on the label once they leave the UK- parcels entering australia are surely scanned when they arrive? If the contents don't match the customs label description you run the risk of your parcel being disposed of by Customs with no refund.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 25/09/2026 14:12

Not australia but America. I bought something last Saturday, didnt realise they were coming from the US, they have arrived today! Had slower deliveries from the next county. And reasonable pp.

Oriunda · 25/09/2026 14:16

I’m really surprised you can do this. We’re in the EU and can’t even view items on the UK Vinted site, let alone buy and sell. Makes sense given the problems with postage post Brexit.

purplepie1 · 25/09/2026 15:29

someone bought an item from me on Vinted and I posted it to Australia. No problems at all.

Hellzbellz25 · 25/09/2026 15:32

It’s just the same as uk but takes longer to arrive so longer to get paid

BangingOn · 25/09/2026 19:14

I sold something to Australia recently which I hadn’t realised until posting it. It arrived really quickly and was all very straightforward.

Gotthroughit · 01/10/2026 22:00

Just to update - I sent the parcel which was straight forward and its on its way. Tracking indicates it should arrive 6 to 13 October. Fingers crossed.

Me too and I wish there was some way to turn it off. It’s INSANE that individuals are shipping 2nd hand clothing to the other side of the world, item by item. I cannot believe that there isn’t something suitable in the Oz Vinted!

aussiegonewrong · 02/10/2026 07:57

i don’t think there is an oz Vinted
I am in Australia but the app seems to cover everywhere

That doesn't surprise me, I live in Oz and my parcels from the UK often arrive quicker than stuff posted from the distribution centre in the next suburb over! Our post can be terribly slow, ordering from overseas is a delight. (Though I take the pp's point about air miles and only do it for things I can't source locally.)
