Ffern Autumn 26 what do you think?

Have just received the Autumn 26 bottle and, to me, it smells overwhelmingly of Lavender with some mixed herbs.

Although I do like Lavender I prefer it as hint, a complement to other, stronger scents.

But what does everyone else think?

This is my first Ffern order.
Is it worth persevering?

Mine was delivered today so I’ve just tried it. I agree that the lavender is heavy although I quite like it. I do think of it as more of a summer smell than an autumn smell personally. I have found that some of their scents blur into one so I like the fact that it’s a bit different. I’ve had my subscription for a year though and will probably stop soon as I have too much perfume and never seem to use it up.

HollyhockDays · 19/09/2026 15:48

I’ve not got mine yet! So far I’ve only kept Summer 25 and asked for it again instead of Summer 26.

I do love all the packaging and stuff that comes with it. Will report back when I get my delivery!

FolleEnFrance · 19/09/2026 19:44

Ah I’m sorry @HollyhockDays we live pretty close to Ffern (the company) so I’m not surprised it arrived quickly.

@mynameiscalypso I’m half French
Autumn 26 reminds me of late summer in my relative’s houses in France, but to me it feels like a poor substitute. If that makes sense?

To try it on I sprayed it on the back of my arm, not the underside and it still smells quite strong.
So if people enjoy the fragrance I can say it really does last.

@HollyhockDays what was Summer 25 like?

LollyWillow · 19/09/2026 20:15

I received mine today. I wasn't sure at first - I also thought that there was too much lavender and it smelt a bit like the lavender talc of my 1970s youth. But. I've been wearing it for about 3 hours and it's growing on me, so I've decided to keep it and see how it goes.
Also, completely off the point, and I don't usually like pictures of hares, but I love the Jackie Morris hare!

@HollyhockDays what was Summer 25 like?

I can’t describe it! It was a deep but fresh smell. It really reminded me of a smell from when I lived in America so I think that was partly why I kept it. It’s very unique.

Interesting, this is my first Ffern too. I was a little dismayed when I saw Lavender. However, conversely, I don’t think it is the overwhelming scent (to my nostrils anyway!), and so was actually pleasantly surprised. I like it (and loved all the little extras it comes with). I will definitely persevere with Ffern for a while.

This season’s is a strange one for me.

I hate the top notes because they’re far too lavender heavy (almost like a very potent lavender essential oil) and really not pleasant to me at first.

But as it moves into the heart notes, the lavender becomes much more subtle and powdery, with a green/herbal note coming through as it evaporates. I don’t mind this stage, but it’s still not my favourite. It has much more of a spring/summer meadow feel to it.

However, after about an hour or so, the base notes start to come through and it transforms into this lovely warm vanilla with earthy, sweet hay and a hint of floral. I absolutely love this stage. I don’t think people around me can necessarily smell it, but I can smell it on myself and it’s gorgeous. It genuinely evokes autumn for me.

The longevity of the base is also really impressive. I could still smell that warm, sweet, earthy scent on my skin when I went to shower in the evening, several hours later.

I genuinely can’t make my mind up whether to keep it. I hate the top notes, but the base is absolutely lovely. It really does feel like two completely different perfumes, it definitely tells a story.

I’ve also been impressed with the longevity of this one, often I find that I need to reapply but it was still going strong by the time I went to bed yesterday.

Yes, the longevity of this one is impressive. And actually, I think the longer it sits on the skin, the better it smells. The dry-down is gorgeous! It seems to get warmer, sweeter and more earthy as it develops. It’s just a shame you have to sit stinking of lavender aromatherapy oils until the dry-down kicks in 🤣

QueenOfThorns · 20/09/2026 18:01

Mine came yesterday too and was my first order. I’m really surprised that everyone is saying lavender, because I think the bergamot top note is overpowering everything else!

After a while, it’s fantastic when the tonka bean base comes through, though, and the longevity of that is great. I completely agree that it seems like two different perfumes, but on the whole it’s a win for me.

TheSmallAssassin · 20/09/2026 18:03

I don't usually like the autumn ones and this is no exception, I did keep this summer's, previous favourite summer was 2022.

Puppylucky · 20/09/2026 18:07

I did Ffern for a while but gave up as all the scents smelt like aftershave to me. There is a particular note they use a lot and it just doesn't sit well on my skin. Plus it's expensive for what it is!

FolleEnFrance · 20/09/2026 21:36

It certainly has longevity, which is great if you like it!

I’ve spent time in France I was born there at least twice a year every year forever.
That smell of natural lavender and hay is the smell of my French family’s houses, though less so in winter.
For me this fragrance was a synthetic version of that smell, I think I had a visceral reaction to it.

Although there was definite dry-down I didn’t get any tonka, just even stronger lavender and hay.

It does seem to just be me though!
This was my first try, I’m not sure whether I will persevere.

I know what you mean, especially the autumn ones. Including this one, for me! I give the sample bottle to my husband and send the main bottle back. He thinks they all smell the same!

Tygertiger · 25/09/2026 15:11

I started with Ffern in Spring 26 which I loved and still have half a bottle of - I think this will be my issue, I can’t possibly get through four bottles of perfume in a year. I didn’t like Summer 26 which to me smelt unpleasantly of burnt oranges, so that went back. I really like the Autumn one, but then I love lavender as a scent so I expected I would. I suspect I’ll end up returning Winter unless it is amazing as I don’t think I’ll have touched the sides of this bottle by that point.

I love the packaging and concept of the perfume - the thing that annoys me is the fake “limited numbers on the ledger” schtick. Clearly they’re going to put everyone on the ledger and it’s a marketing ploy - give over with it Ffern.

Puppylucky · 26/09/2026 17:25

It's interesting @Tygertiger that autumn 26 is lavender led . The autumn fragrance when I was subscribing was also lavender led suggesting the notes are repeated!
